i've spent the last few hours researching new radio scanners.  i own two old radio shack handhelds but their frequency range has gotten me some sweet samples of police conversation but i can't hear aircraft communications or any of the new trunked communications.

so after a while i found the uniden ubc-3500xlt.  first it's an international version so it covers way more frequencies than an american made one.  also has some sweet functionality where the local more powerful radio signals are automatically tuned in.  so you can drive around and if you pass a cop or whatever it'll tune right in if they are broadcasting.  same with planes and security guards or whatever.  could be rad.  http://www.radioscan.co.uk/ubc3500xlt.html

also found the yupiteru mvt-7100. it's basically like the ones i have now, but way more fully featured and has a way better antenna than either of the ones i currently use.  better antenna = better reception and more reception.  also completely scans all the frequencies with nothing blocked.

the uniden also has strereo recording whereas the majoriy have mono only.  kind of cool.
