Word Count: Almost 500
Disclaimer: I don't own them.
AN: For blueanddollsome, who wanted Giles with the prompts: "California Dreamin'" and blushing.

Giles would never understand why most Americans had such bad taste in music. When they weren’t worshipping young men, who thought screaming at the top of their lungs was singing, they were worshipping barely dressed teenage girls with no talent whatsoever. He could handle it if most of the student population didn’t walk about, their ears connected to things called Discmans, singing along with their favorite pop princess.

When he’d moved to Sunnydale, the first thing Giles did was look for a classical station. Of course there wasn’t one. He had to take to driving to work every morning in silence since he even refused to give the local NPR station a chance.

After pulling into his parking space at the school, Giles killed the engine and was about to step out when someone carelessly pulled into the spot beside his. “California Dreamin’” was blasting from their radio and he made a face. Even the faculty had terrible taste in music. This was a culture he was never going to understand.

Stepping out, he slammed the car door behind him, a glare set on his face as he waited for the occupant of the other car to step out.

“Hey, England!”

Wonderful. It was that Calendar woman.

“Miss Calendar,” he muttered. He attempted to move but something was stopping him.

“Nice…tweed suit,” Jenny said. Her eyes roamed over him and Giles felt a slight blush creep up his face.

“Thank you,” he said, not knowing if it was a compliment. He tried to move again but couldn’t.

Jenny walked around her car and looked at his. “Your jacket’s caught,” she said, waving her hand toward his car door.

Giles turned slightly and saw that the corner of his jacket was indeed caught in the door. Clearing his throat, he opened the door again and pulled the jacket out. He then examined the piece of material, hoping it hadn’t gotten torn.

“Not going to thank me?” Jenny asked.

He turned toward her and pressed his lips into a thin line. “Thank you, Miss Calendar.”

Jenny grinned and stepped away. She started toward the school but stopped. Turning around, she looked him over again. “Do you know what I like most about guys in suits?” she asked.

Giles refused to answer. But, that didn’t stop her from answering.

“All those layers. Undressing a man in a suit is like opening a present - you never know what you’re going to find,” she said before turning toward the school again. “See ya later, England.”

Jenny walked away, humming one of those annoying songs by one of those annoying teenager girls, and Giles watched her. For a brief moment his mind wandered and he wondered what she look like, dressed like one of them in a short skirt and skin tight blouse. A smile crossed his face and he cleared his throat before starting toward the school.

Perhaps American culture wasn’t so bad after all.
