My friend, Markus, invited me to join him, his family, and a few others for this year's annual Man Camp. Basically, it's a guys-only camping trip with lots of off-roading and gun-fire.
We headed up to the mountains on Thursday evening. We were in Pike National Forrest, somewhere well passed Bailey. We had a great time, but it was hotter than the fires of Hell! I was certainly ready to come home by Sunday morning.
I got to shoot an AK, as well as an array of pistols and rifles. We even did a little skeet shooting, with floppy disks. :) I must say, I impressed myself when shooting the .39 pistol. While I'm not cray about the palm-safety on it, I LOVE that gun. I was hitting targets on the rifle range(verses the, MUCH closer, pistol range) with that thing. Other than that, we wandered the woods, cooked, talked, relaxed, and did a little off-roading.
The last night was clear enough for some really great star-gazing. We saw Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter, as well as getting to see the other arm of the Milky Way clearer than ever. It was simply amazing.
I was thinking about posting some pictures here, but if you really want to see them, you can wander off to
