Yesterday, while I was sitting on my porch, I watched a bird as she darted fearlessly through the full branches of several trees. I wondered at the recklessness of such a maneuver. One slight miscalculation and she could easily have found herself plummeting to the ground with a broken neck.
It got me to thinking.... would other birds find this feat as amazing as I did? Do birds recognize awesomeness when they see it? How about other animals? When one dolphin leaps from the surface, completes a double somersault and re-enters the water with nary a splash, do other dolphins look at him and think, "wooooah! That was awesome!!" How about the first time a chimp jammed a stick into an anthill only to bring it back up with a tasty treat? Did the other chimps think, "NO! WAY!! That was freakin' awesome!! Get me a stick!!"
However you feel about the recognition of awesomeness in the animal kingdom, I highly recommend you go see
Kung Fu Panda. It is definitely full of awesomeness.
I leave you with this awesome image:
