Update - Faire and Long Grove and other inappropriate spendings ;)
Oh, yes, it is time for the State of Me, hehe.
Well, let's see. Work on the 19th was, I imagine, a nightmare, as Fridays tend to do that. The 20th Devin and I went to the Ren Faire with Albie and Zach. It was a little rainy early on, but it cleared right up and the sun came out, so we were REALLY glad we still went. Accomplishments include finding a ton of the Fantasticals fairies, seeing Broon, eating a turkey leg, and getting a couple cute pewter necklaces and a handful of AWESOME feather hair clips. Super fun. Devin and I got to belly dance a couple of times, earned a dollar, AND got invited back to dance again the next Sat, so I thought that was a pretty rockstar accomplishment ;).
Worked the 21st and the 22nd. On the way to work on the 21st on the way back from dropping Dev off I stopped at Mariano's market to check it out and pretty much instantly fell in love. Then work proceeded to kick the everliving excrement outta me. *sigh* Sunday was a NIGHTMARE. Monday, blessedly, was FAR more manageable, and I did not die.
Last Tuesday was lovely. Devin and I explored Mariano's a little more, took our spoils home then went to see Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D. It's *4*D because of the smell-o-vision card ;). It was super cute and very fun and we had a blast. After that we met Zahra at Cafe Mistiko for dinner. While Dev and I waited for her, I got some ADORABLE videos of Devin cutting a rug ;). There are some posted here :D. I got to catch up on some True Blood, and excellent end to a lovely day <3.
I... don't think I did much of anything last Wed...? Heh. Just playing with Devin and hanging around the apartment. She had some GREAT playing pretend, dragons ravaging Lake Cook Road, and a play she put on for me about, quote, "It's about ballerinas and dancers and monsters." She was dancing and slaying at the same time... priceless. She had such quotes as "I want you to be my roommate because you are pretty. *pause* Are you allergic to my hair?" and "I am an expert on humans." It was awesome.
Thursday I did a little more unpacking as I've been procrastinating on the last couple boxes. They're mainly decor, so I need to decide how I wanna decorate :). Friday work sucked, but a little less than the normal suck.
Saturday the 27th was going to be faire, but laziness won, so Dev and I went to Long Grove instead and spent inappropriate amounts of money on DELICIOUS things. We got a medium bottle of garlic olive oil and small bottles (a sampler) of blueberry, strawberry, bordeaux cherry and dark chocolate balsamic vinegars. OH. MY. GOD. We also got a loaf of triple cheese bread, a chocolate covered strawberry, some RIDICULOUSLY gooey salted caramels from the Irish shop, apple donuts, a small caramel apple pie and cherry cider (they were out of apple until today). I think I gained a few pounds that day, but every one was worth it!! ;) We had fun wandering, window shopping and playing by the fountain <3.
Sunday was once again a work nightmare, working late and just... bad. BAD bad. Last night was ok again, so Mondays are winning ;). I even left a little early which was BLISS.
Today was good. Devin and I mall ratted it all day at Hawthorne, and again I spent too much. But, good gods, Devin is my weakness!! We took her for her FIRST haircut, just to trim off the ends before school starts. To be fair, you can't even tell, she only lost like an inch and it was just the knotty part at the bottom, but it was her first none-the-less. We went to Kid Snips, and it was SO worth it, no tears and I have a "first haircut" certificate <3. We got her a little clothes at JP Penneys and she had a certificate for Build a Bear, so her little bear family has a momma now <3. She read for a while at Barnes & Noble and played a while at the toy store with the Safari fantasy creatures figurines and a My Little Sandbox set. There was some tea and a popcorn snack and dancing wildly at the Disney Store :D. She enjoyed the testers at Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body Works. Good times. Then home again, home again, jiggity jig for a light dinner and some Nightmare Before Christmas before bed.
Tomorrow is comics and playing with Melly, Thursday I have belly dance. Friday I WORK, and Sat I'm in the Pilates Plus belly dance demo at the Schaumburg Septemberfest, at 1:30pm <3. Come see us!! Then, as always, I work Sun and Mon. I'm sure Mon'll be... interesting...
