Gonna try to keep up better...

Dev and I are keeping busy. Saturday we went to the Ren Faire, just us. It was actually completely lovely. We saw Gypsy Geoff, Moonie and the Bird Man. We ate a brat, corn on the cob, cheese fritters and a blue raspberry snowcone. We drank water, sassafras and chai. We wandered, we played, we followed fairies. I saw boy fairies this year, which I don't remember seeing last time. Devin was DARLING in her garb and she charmed much of the Faire ;). We had a BLAST, and I think we'll be going back Aug 20th and Sept 3rd :D.

Work was good, keeps me busy, and paid.

Today after I got Devin back we went and saw the Smurfs. I had REALLY low expectations of it, so I was actually pleasantly surprised. There was a somewhat "usable" plot for coming from an 80's cartoon about little blue gnomes and the wizard who is obsessed with them, and Neil Patrick Harris was charming and entertaining. I could watch that man do almost anything <3. So, I think we got our money's worth, and I'd even be willing to buy that one :). WAY more so than Winnie the Pooh anywho.

Mom came to see the progress on the apt this evening and hung out for a bit while Devin showed her EVERYTHING. Then around 9 we got hit with ANOTHER torrential downpour summer storm.

I'm working with Devin to make sure she's not terrified of storms, so we went out again to play in the lightening and the rain. It was a CRAZY heavy downpour, the kind that soaked you to the BONE in the first 2 seconds of you being out there. It's funny - the first moment we go out I get that grown-up "OMG RAIN" instinct to run back in, but then I just let the rain fall on me a moment and just let go and feel it and all that funny grown up uptightedness just melts away and I can just enjoy the simple pleasure of nature surrounding me <3. When I don't have to worry about purses and pretty clothes and wet socks (we go out barefoot) it's just so refreshingly freeing to run, spin and dance in the rain, to jump with 2 feet into puddles and to just lift your face up and feel the rain hit it. There is a joy and simplicity to just... playing in the rain, hehe, being a kid. Devin is such a blessing, and getting to re-discover all these things with her is simply amazing. Watching her experience the joys that every kid should get to experience is completely fulfilling for me, almost spiritual <3.

After all that it was Shrek 3, her not really eating her dinner, and bed. She went down pretty easily, so I think I successfully tired her out ;).

More to come, my pretties!
