I'm not sure what happened, again, but Dev was fighting some constipation the last couple of days (it's been a bit. We were supposed to have a playdate with my friend from high school Michelle, but she was sick and cancelled. That ended up working out, as Dev spend most of the day straining.
BUT... Dev was asking to see Grampy, my dad, for 2 days, so I didn't cancel that. We met him at 5pm at Woodfield. As it turned out, yesterday was the day of Santa's arrival at the Narnia Ice Palace, with free toys and everything. Dev was acting really uncomfortable and out of it, but she would not leave Grampy's side. We had some dinner at McDonald's, and that seemed to perk her up. Then it turned out that we were at just the right place at the right time and at 6pm we got to watch the opening ceremonies for the Ice Palace, help light it up, and watch the Santa parade as he went around the whole mall and then to the palace.
I am SO GLAD we went, and stayed. There is nothing more magical than seeing your child's face light up at seeing Santa :). She was so stoic faced, dealing with her pain, and when we first saw Santa round the corner, I watched a smile creep across her face and my heart just about leapt for joy. I have NEVER liked ANY X-Mas stuff in November, and I'll tell you what, we were singing carols and looking at holiday trees and I was just so happy, sharing it all with my daughter, seeing her joy reflected in my dad. THAT is the joy of the season.
We asked Devin if she wanted to see Santa, and she DID! We waited in line for something like an hour and a half, but in the end it was also SO worth it. She was really good in line, and in the whole Ice Palace set up there are little videos running and ice for the kids to touch. Then you get to the Palace proper, the big globe, and it's SNOWING inside!! It's completely gorgeous and we got to be in there for a few minutes, just throwing snow and twirling and playing and it was so fun. We were COVERED in it! THEN you get to sit on the ice thone, and it's really cold! And after all that, we got to sit with Santa. Devin sat on my lap, but willingly talked to him, gave him a high five, and the picture we got is GORGEOUS! I could not believe it! :) Then after all that she gave him a hug. *heart melt* What does Devin want from Santa? "Pillow Pet. Unicorn." *Squeee*!!
It was a pretty amazing experience, and it was just too much fun. We had a little cake from Starbucks after, then went home. We went to bed late, but it was more than worth it. And this morning after a little medicine and a warm bath we seem to be doing much better. So, I think we're ready to meet Uncle Albie and Uncle Zach today for...
The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus!! We're seeing Barnum's FUNundrum.
OK, boys are here, gotta go!! :D
