So... I've been MIA ;). Busy-busy!! I wanted to do an update, for me and for you ;).
Work!! I started my new job last Monday. And I have to say... I'm in love :D. The facility is HUGE, and the buildings are all connected underground. The first couple days I was SO lost, but now I know how to get to where I need to be ;). The job itself seemed SO complicated when I was reading the Standard Operating Procedures, but now that I'm DOING it, it's really not that bad. It's a barrier facility, so I just have to be pretty much covered from head to toe and be careful of what goes where, clean and dirty, and I just get to take care of mice, all day, 5 days a week. It's pretty sweet :D.
The drive there is fine. I leave here at 5:30am and I'm usually there by 6:20, giving me PLENTY of time to park (free street parking ftw), get inside, and eat some more breakfast before I start at 7am. Driving HOME however is a different story and the only thing I'm not a fan of. Mondays and Tuesdays I take a half hour lunch and go home at 3pm so I can get baby, Wed-Fri I work until 3:30. Last week I got home: Mon - 4:10, Tues - 5:30, Wed - 5:10, Thurs - 6:10, Fri - 6:30 o_O. Today? Home at 4:15, heh. Sooo... we'll see how that goes.
And yes, I know, snow is going to make it all worse. You don't have to tell me again. I've heard that a lot recently -_-.
So, yeah, that's that. I'm really happy there so far. My co-workers are all cool and while there are some issues with getting cage changing supplies in a timely manner I really like the work. I can focus on one job at a time ;). And my co-workers are all really helpful. And I love, love, LOVE my little car. Love.
Devin is doing well. She's 2 now, and I need to do her update, but time's just not here right now. I'm going to hopefully do it soon. She's dealing with going to the sitter's very well. We get up at 5am (I get ready earlier -_-) and I drop her off there at about 5:20am. We've only done it a couple of times so far, but she wakes up happy and seems to really be having fun there. Ann reports that she eats well, naps well, is a very happy baby and she has a large vocabulary :). I'm so proud of my little girl. She's bright, smart, and still uses new words every day :D. She's cutting her 2 year molars - EVERYTHING went in her mouth today, and every time she tried to eat a cashew she winced and spit it out. She's getting slightly terrible, listening to me when it suits her, but overall she is just SUCH a good little baby.
5 days of work was rough - I'm used to 3 long days in a row. After that Sat was a pretty big day. Devin had her 2 year appointment. She's 28# 10oz, 33in tall and her head is 18.5 inches around. She's 50th in weight, a little under 50th in hight and 50th in head size :D. She got her flu shot and was SO GOOD for it! Her face crumpled and she whimpered but never full out cried. Go Devin!! After that it was off to grandma's. She spent the night there and *I* went to see the
Midwest Tribal Mafia gala show!! And, OMG, the show was SO phenominal!!! Every performance was wonderful, it was SO good to see my belly babes again, and I just had the best time ever. It makes me wanna dance SO much more!! Leize from
Rahshanda laid claim on me, so I spent the rest of the night hanging with her and Amanda :D. I had SUCH a blast. We went to the Matchbox and met up with Jatare, Sarabi, Amirah, and a few of the other belly dancers. It was SO MUCH FUN. I crashed Rahkshanda's suite for some pizza and a nap before heading home in the AM.
Sunday I went to Mom's to get Devin. We had breakfast there and hung out until her nap time. Post nap we went to the mall, shopped around a little, then I let her run wild at the Looney Toons playplace. She loved that. But, of course, her nose started getting very boogery again :P. That night Zahra came over. We were going to work on some Halloween stuff, but Devin was being needy, and I ended up giving her a bath while trying to cook. The wok got WAY too hot and I had a little oil fire. *sigh* Thankfully the wok has a lid, but the smoke set off the building's fire alarm o_O. So after all that excitement not much got accomplished. But I cleaned the wok and still had stir fry, damnit!! Heh. So, yeah. Good times.
Work was good today. I was working on a room on my own, so that was exciting. I'm still pretty slow, but that's understandable. I was REALLY tired this morning, and I thought it was just from my action packed weekend and the lack of major sleep, but at lunch my throat started feeling sore, and my lymph nodes are swollen. *sigh* So, whatever Devin caught, I think I did too. She's such a good sharer... ;).
Hmm... I think that's about it! Tomorrow - I work :). I gotta run and do some chores before totally passing out. Night!!
