A story told at Lucille's 90th(?) birthday party I obviously didn't get to go to.
Setting: Church
Pastor: (goes on and on about forgiveness and how it's important to forgive your enemies, how it does you good, etc) Alright, who's ready to forgive your enemies?
(Half the congregation stands up)
Pastor: Waits for a few moments, repeats at least the key points of his sermon) Alright, who's ready to forgive your enemies?
(3/4 of the congregation stands up)
Pastor: Waits for a few moments, repeats at least the key points of his sermon with more emphasis) Alright, who's ready to forgive your enemies?
(All the congregation stands up except for little old Lucille)
Pastor: Lucille, you aren't ready to forgive your enemies?
Lucille: I don't have any enemies.
Pastor: Oh! That's impressive. Would you like to come up here and tell us about how you've managed that?
(Lucille moves to the podium)
Lucille: I outlived them all.
