I've been so bad about updating this past week, but I FINALLY got a recap all typed up. Yikes!
Monday:
Didn't go to class and started my new job at GS! It's not a bad job so far, but learning to do the cash register is kind of weird. I think I'm the only female on staff, but that's cool. I'm pretty used to it anyways. I got a crash course in register and I got pretty damn good at shelving and filing, so that was fun. Yay.
Tuesday:
Birthday day! Whee! Fortunately I didn't have school, so I bummed around and went to have lunch with Sophia at Mangia's, which I had never been to before. DELICIOUS. I want to go again. Sophia and I also ran to Borders, where she picked up some cds and I grabbed LL's birthday present. I opened my present from Boy (the super nice edition of The Nightmare Before Christmas) and from Boo (cds! Kinda!! Yay!!) and watched part of Nightmare while I waited for the family to come home.
Mom was in a (very minor) car wreck (no damage to anyone) so she was a bit late getting home but that was all right. We went out to dinner with Dad and Kris at PF Chang's and generally had a great time even though they goofed up my order and brought me the wrong thing at first. But what they brought me on accident ended up being REALLY YUMMY so no worries. But the manager ended up coming over to the table and acting all nervous, but my whole family's too laid back to really cause much of a fuss, so it was cool. I got a pretty necklace from Dad and Kris, so the evening was a nice one. And then Mom, Kiddo and I went home and watched Kung-Fu Panda. ^_^
Wednesday:
Um... I think I just went to class this day. I can't remember doing anything special! The only thing was that I brought cupcakes to class because I felt like flashing back to third grade when everyone brought treats and stuff to school on their birthday. Plus everyone loves cupcakes!
Thursday:
I can't remember Thursday very well either. Let's assume I just hung around all day.
Friday:
Went to class in the morning and then bummed around at home for a bit before heading off to Georgetown in the afternoon for a joint birthday dinner and shindig with LL since her birthday was/is the day after mine. Saw Jackie briefly and had a nice time hanging out with her before going to LL's house. We exchanged presents when we got there. I gave her the Twilight movie soundtrack and she gave me THIS which was AWESOME to get. There was much mutual rejoicing. We hung out at her place for a bit and then went to dinner at a new Thai place in Georgetown. I had eggrolls and pad thai, both of which were extremely yummy. I should eat more Thai food - I've loved all of it that I've had. It was fun getting to eat with a big group of people, even if I didn't know all of them.
After dinner, we headed out to the theater to see Quantum of Solace. I was... underwhelmed by the movie. It was like they kept the tone from Casino Royale while removing everything I LIKED about Casino Royale. The female characters were vapid, the plot made no goddamend sense, the bad guy was unmemorable (another skinny, neurotic, vaguely unattractive billionaire nutjob genius?! HOW ORIGINAL!) and Bond was.... well he was kind of an asshole throughout the whole thing. Not even a fun to watch asshole. He was just an asshole. If he had been more upset or something, I would have felt a lot better about it. I dunno. I was unsatisfied.
Went back to LL's house and played games for a while. Most everyone else drank, but nobody got out of control. Yay. We played catchphrase, which I love and am pretty damn good at, if I do say so myself. Eventually all the people left and Noelle and I headed upstairs. I ended up crashing because I was REALLY tired for some reason.
Saturday:
Got up and drove back home to Austin. I think I just bummed around at home until I had to work at 4. I worked from 4-8 and then came back home and had soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. Mmm. And then I think Kiddo and I watched Waterworld or something while Mom went out. So exciting.
Sunday:
Had family breakfast (as usual) and did around-the-house things until I had to go to work at 3:30. Worked from 3:30 to 6:30, so yay for that. Came home, had family dinner and did normal evening things.
Monday:
Monday was busy. Got up and went to Spanish as usual and then spent my break between classes writing a paper I'd been meaning to turn in for AGES. The problem with my composition class is that the deadlines are all very relaxed. This may sound like a good thing, but I have a problem with too-flexible deadlines. If I don't have a concrete date, I will NOT do it. But I finally got that taken care of. I also got my oil changed on the way home. I'd been meaning to do that for a while, so yay for that. Yuki was a happy car. The rest of the day was pretty normal.
Tuesday:
No class or work on Tuesday, so I did a bunch of chores in the morning and then took myself up to Border's since I'd gotten a gift card in the mail from Shelley. I bought Seeing Redd by Frank Beddor, since that just came out in paperback. I also got the first volume of MPD Psycho, which I am enjoying TREMENDOUSLY. And then just for kicks I picked up Tropic Thunder on dvd because that movie makes me outrageously happy and it had just come out today.
Went home and spent the rest of the day knitting, catching up on reading and work and the like. Yay productivity. Stayed up later than I should have, but OH WELL.
LOOT LIST:
-PSP from Mom!! This was my big gift. She got me a bundle that came with a silver PSP, National Treasure 2 and Ratched & Clank. I haven't had a chance to really monkey around with it, but I'm excited about getting a few new games that I've been wanting.
-Kung-Fu Panda from Kiddo. I have no shame. I love this damn movie.
-The Nightmare Before Christmas special edition from Boy. YAY FINALLY.
-A necklace from Dad and Kris.
-A CD full of AWESOME STUFF and an epic card and some spearmint tea from Boo!
