Stanley Steamer the Gap Dragon in the News

Today, there was mention of the name "Stan" and "Dragon" like Stanley Steamer the Gap Dragon surfacing another Xanth Prophecy based off characters. However, only people who've read the Xanth Series would recognize it. However, that's assuming they were even looking for it. Most people aren't.

Tapestry of Xanth History in 'Crewel Lye' and 'With a Tangled Skein'... )

ok, it's fine that you want to share it with us. however, there is no reason to post every single little thing that you think may have a connection. the first post was ok. but you've made 9 posts now. i believe you are done.

hey...at least he is POSTING! this group has been dead for the longest time. i think it's great that someone is actually posting in here, and knows what they're talking about. most of the time the posts are from people with little questions because they've only read the new books.

so i say, keep the interesting information coming! if people like goldenrodsucks don't like it, they can always skip it to the next post on their friends page. i for one love the info. maybe that's because i have an inquiring mind and love to make connections, and other people lack that quality. just know that you have supporters lurking in the corners.

oh panda. i had a sweet reply and then my pc burped and lost it. ah well...journeying on...

at least he is POSTING! this group is usually so dead, so it's exciting that people are actually using it now. also, he actually knows what he's talking about! most of the posts are from people asking little questions since they have only read the new books.

so i say keep the posts coming. if people don't want to read the posts...welcome to the beauty of the internet! they can scroll past the post to the next one of their friends page. oh i love the internet. i only read what i WANT to! it's crazy in its grand simplicity. but i actually do want to read the posts...maybe that's because i have an inquisitive nature and i like making connections between things, and apparently other people lack that quality. but at least know that you have supporters lurking in the corners.
at the very least, it's great that discussions have been generated from the posts. gorgeous!

It could be noted as well that several seperate carpet cleaning companies in the US bear the name Stanley Steemer.

True, But You Go by the News rodillon April 11 2005, 22:59:49 UTC
That's a good point. However, that's why I cite from news articles that are posted currently like today.

What I do is I pull from news that's current. The news article I posted was from Top News in sports.

The guy died either today or yesterday and the person writing the article made reference to Stan and the Dragon in that article within the last 24 - 48 hours.

Good Point rodillon April 11 2005, 23:16:48 UTC
You made a really good point though. If I want to prove the validity of my claims, I should stick with information that is posted on the news on a 24 - 48 hour period.

That way, fewer people will be able to refute my claims compared to just drawing upon database information. By taking information from current news stories, I'll have a stronger case when it comes to proving my point.

It's harder to argue that they're just random bits of information if you can show a consistent track record coming from current sources that weren't there the day before.
