You sound like you're flourishing in Florida. I feel good about moving to NJ, but I'm not in love with it. To me, people are the most important thing, and I've not been able to meet too many fabulous ones up here. (Some friends of Brian's are great, but they're still kinda HIS friends first).
It would be excellent if you moved back to Baltimore. Do you realise what you'd be getting yourself into, though? You'd have to see me. Not like that's a bad thing -- at all -- because I'm a domestic diva and pretty much always have a cake on hand. And who doesn't like cake -- am I right or am I right?
Owings Mills. Bah. You aren't JEWISH enough to live in the OM. There are some pretty nice places along York Road, though... Lutherville area, yanno? Mays Chapel. I don't have to tell you this, you already know it.
I find it's easier to get to know people in a real city environment. I lived in Mufreesboro, TN for a while, and not only was it terrible trying to get places because everything was so far apart, people weren't necessarily excited to make friends. Or maybe it was me, not wanting to fraternise with the white trash across the road. SOMETHING like that. I think cities like Baltimore (where there are AMAZING places to hang out) are easier to make friends in because there is so much to do. The variety of amusements makes it
( ... )
We'll have to see about Owings Mills. I've seen some cheap, nice, cheap places with fags galore. My first boyfriend lived in a condo in Owings Mills, and there were about 85 queens in his building. I'm not massively enthused about going from a quaint farmhouse to a stark white apartment building, but we'll see.
I think you're definitely right about the city environment thing, though. It's one thing that I never really appreciated about Baltimore. Did you really live somewhere named Mufreesboro? Yowza. We went to Tenessee last year and really liked it, but I've heard it's a hostile place for glbt folk.
And, yes, everybody loves acke. Just depends on how long said cake has been sitting in your hand.
