Donating Souls

I've dressed very simply in order to do what needs to be done. My wardrobe consists of a cotton tunic, white but very faded as I've never dared to use bleach on it. There are darker brown spots of dried blood on it due to my last sacrifice which took place nearly one hundred years ago. My pants are also simple cotton in the same fashion with a cord ( Read more... )

He's hurt! He's hurt and he's bleeding and I'm more than a little worried as I pace behind the star, angry that I can't enter but daring not to intrude ( ... )

I can't help but laugh. It's either laugh or cry and I'm too pleased with myself to do the latter.

"He cares for me."

It's a wonderful feeling. I stand easily, pulling Klaus to his feet and wiping away the last of the fresh blood. It's chilly and I can feel it now. My clothes, though, are in rags, so I'll have to deal with it.

"I'm fine, Klaus. Better than fine. I'm... wonderful."

I start walking away, ignoring the now lifeless bodies on the pikes, knowing that his demons will deal with the flesh left over from the sacrifice. I remembered there being a lake of some sort not too far from the clearing. I can hear the river.

"This way."

I know Klaus will not understand, even if I try to explain it to him. I don't understand myself, actually. All I know is that I feel rejuvinated, and I wanted to share that with him.

"Ah, here we go."

The trees parted and there was a lake before us with a small waterfall, only a few yards tall. Perfect for bathing and... other things.

There were times when I really didn't understand this man. Then there were times when I just didn't want to. The anger has died out to be replaced with concern as I follow him through the woods ( ... )

"I never thought you'd ask me that," I say, stepping back slightly.

He is dangerously off balance and if I just...

"LOOK OVER THERE!" I shout, pointing at nothing. As predicted, Klaus looks, and with one quick move, I jerk him down, laughing as he lands with a splash.
