Mass this morning was at the civilised hour of half ten, which meant being there at ten to help prepare as there is always extra stuff to do on St Stephen's Day... we had two new servers to enrol, about half a dozen went from red to blue, one from blue to green, and one from green to gold - even though we were missing quite a few people as they're away, suddenly our servers seem to be massively disproportionately female. Not that there is anything wrong with being female, obviously, but just it seems strange - especially when I consider how much the reverse used to be true...
I offer myself to God almighty,
to blessed Mary, our Mother
and to our holy patron, Saint Stephen.
And I promise to do my best
to serve regularly
with reverence and understanding,
for the glory of God,
the service of his Church,
and my own eternal salvation.
I suspect it hasn't changed much since the Guild was started in 1904. Possibly. Although I suppose it might have been in Latin then. *leshrug*
Traditional chocolates as presents for servers - I gave half mine to my daddy, and half to Annie (my friend Tom's mummy) because she said she'd seen Ruth (her daughter) had managed to get chocolate with crunchie pieces in & it looked very nice.
The priest asked me again about training as a Eucharistic Minister. I am slightly scared...
