Adeste fidelis...

Happy Christmas mes amies (and indeed any random bods who happen across this)...

I was welcomed with open arms (literally, I was warmly embraced by the priest) on the serving front & indeed asked if I was, by any chance, a Eucharistic Minister. I am not, but I may have accidentally agreed to become one after I graduate. Possibly whoops, possibly. The priest had a sparkly chasuble, which was very fine. Yus. Literally shiny. Mm.

Lots of small children in church this morning, many of them wielding new toys. Possibly I am being a big traditionalist, but possibly letting them bring a toy which does NOT make noise to Mass is the way forward if you are going to let them bring one at all... Tom was serving this morning as well, which was good. He has had a haircut & was dressed smartly & suddenly he looks like a grown-up & old enough to be getting married in the summer. Although that is still weird. Yes.

After Mass (and after my dad had startled me, again, by informing me that he had, for a split-second, thought "who's that beautiful young woman with Tom?" before realising it was me) daddy and I went to see my grandparents. Grandad is not well, but he liked the fudge I had got for him. Granny was getting cross with the phone when we arrived - I would personally like to brain Graham (my uncle, who installed it) with it, because he is a berk & a fule. Granny SAID she didn't want it to do answerphone-things, but he set it up anyway... And she can't work the phone so well, because the display is small & not lit & her sight is not great, and the buttons are small & her fingers can be quite stiff. Let us all throw things at my uncle for being a prize nit. On the plus side, I managed to make the phone stop bleeping, so all was well. I had got granny a box of "Black Magic" chocolates as they are her favourites. My wicked stepmother had done the same. Alas for her, for my box was about twice the size & thus made hers look somewhat pathetic. I know it is mean, but as our relationship makes it look as though Snow White had an easy ride, I don't feel so bad. It was just quite comic...

In the car on the way back I got a phonecall from ma squiblette, who is NOT in Southampton, but instead at her boyfriend's, and coming here on the 27th: huzzah! Huzzah-huzzah! And indeed wahoo! Apparently she has eaten two whole blocks of fudge this morning. As I told her, I am hugely impressed she was not horribly sick. She was less impressed, giving the impression it was, in fact, a mere bagatelle ;)

I got home and finished opening my presents, which are so very fine & thoughtful. My best friend got me a lovely BIG shiny star when we were in Innsbruck as part of my present, and there was lots of Piglet/Giraffe/sparkly goodness all round. And books. Lots of lovely books. *strokes new books lovingly* mwahaha...

I am off to my aunt's presently, to do the festive-y tralala goodness thing. And eat. I have veggie-sausages. And Swedish Glace. Though not for eating together. Because that would be quite wrong...

I hope that everyone has a lovely day & that you got lots of nice presents & did not end up with custard in your stocking because you had been norty...

presents, pretty sparkly things, mims, grandparents, church, christmas
