This morning I was very VERY restrained and did not open my stocking presents (thank you Nicola) when I awoke at quarter to five. I went back to sleep for a bit and then opened them a little after seven. I have (amongst other things) glowrings and fingerpuppets (a giraffe and a snowy owl) to play with. Does life get any finer?
I then went and had a shower (in the hopes my hair would be dry by the time I left for church) before leaping downstairs to open my presents. Mwahahahahahaha. Thank you very much to everyone who gave me a present. They are all very lovely. I have received a highly impressive amount of giraffe stuff, and indeed Piglet stuff. I also have a t-shirt with the evil mastermind on; a copy of George, Don't Do That; a huge fluffy scarf; a Newnham hoodie; a kit for making paper flowers; indoor sparklers; stamps and inkpads; writing paper; a paint-your-own-teaset; long stripy socks; a Little Miss Naughty handwarmer; and a variety of other splendacious things. I have very fine and generous friends. And an awful lot of giraffes. Although there is no such thing as too many giraffes, as a small and imaginary voice has just pointed out...
Church this morning was very lovely. I saw some of the Brownies and Guides who had apparently all been up at ungodly o'clock this morning. Mwahaha. We sang "Away in a Manger" with the first verse sung by the children and suddenly hankies were appearing all through the congregation. The homily was also nicely paced & thought out (what is God asking us for this Christmas?) and all in all it was a very nice Mass (this year noone had a noisy new toy with them: huzzah). I met daddy on the way to church but he hadn't opened his presents yet. Clearly a household in need of small children to do Christmas-morning waking-up duty...
This afternoon I am going to my aunt's best friend's house, which should be very fine. I hope that everyone is having a lovely Christmas & that it brings you peace.
