I really HAVE finished it. Meep.
Laura came round this evening & rejoiced in both the finishedness of my dissertation & the general splendour of my dress. *nods*
We went to the buttery for tea (chips and sweetcorn... nice... oh, and a yummy smoothie, which actually WAS nice) and there was much chatting *nods* And then Katie and Jo appeared, and there was more chatting. Including discussion of
Veggie Tales which Jo had come across while looking something up for her dissertation. Which is, before you wonder, about women writers, not singing Christian vegetables. Although how amusing would the latter be... There was some perplexity about me knowing about them. But yes, "Lyle the Kindly Viking" then led me to the whole
goodbye, vikings! thing. Sometimes I think they might think I am a bit strange, you know. Mind you, Jo was also planning her future, alternating between being a concept artist (her chosen medium = jam) and writing musicals about ancient civilisations/classical themes. "Celts", rather than "Cats" anyone? And what was it about "Achilles and his Hephaestian-wrought armour" that seemed vaguely derivative?
But yes, punting tomorrow if fine. Huzzah. I am almost thinking of having (shock, horror) the day off. Then back to the Long Essay with a will, vim & indeed vengeance on Monday...
ETA: forgot to say - my wife came to see me this afternoon & was most taken with my dress & also the thought of me IN the dress... and she gave me presents (Lush stuff) which is ALWAYS lovely... huzzah, so yes, today has had EVEN more fineness than I initially remembered in my post-dissertation shock... (speaking of, I am the first Newnhamite finished...)
