WTF Are People Thinking????

Feb 08, 2008 12:21

Last night my brother who lives in Europe called me to tell me he and his wife are coming to San Francisco to visit me this summer. Great! I love my brother (he's the oldest of seven sons - I'm number 3). He has lived in Europe for 45 years so it's a treat whenever I get to see him.

Now, the rub. He announces that, among his plans is one to have dinner at least one evening with me and my ex-wife. Huh? WTF?

To take this stuff a step further, my second youngest brother and his wife came out to visit a few years back and, without my knowledge, arranged a big dinner party for me and my ex wife. WTF?

I mean, really, I understand that they like my ex wife. She's a very nice woman and they are all friends. But, WTF makes them, or ANYONE for that matter, think that they have the right to try to arrange things like that?

For one thing, my ex lives on a ranch in the Sierra foothills (purchased by yours truly) and it is more than a three hour drive from SF. WTF? I mean, really...

Can anyone explain to me why anyone, especially not one, but TWO of my brothers think I would want to party with my ex wife? We've been divorced for 10 years. If we wanted to be together, we'd be together. It should be pretty obvious to people that we don't want to be together.

I guess it's just a case of my brothers and their wives being selfish and thinking only that they want to visit with both me and my ex. Okay, I have no problem with that. Visit away to your heart's content. But, arrange things with me and my ex as a couple? I know that my ex and I made a stunningly beautiful and incredibly charming couple - in the presence of other people. But: WTF??????

Okay, my question of the day, if you hadn't guessed, is WTF? Any and all answers will be entered into my daily contest. The prize just may be a trip to the Sierra foothills with my brother and his wife to dine with my ex wife. Fun will be had by all. Waiting to hear...
