Well, it's come to this. The most exciting thing I did today was change two light-bulbs in my kitchen. Now, that may not sound like such a big deal to a normal person living in a normal place, but, for me, who is not normal and does not live in a normal place, it is a big deal.
First of all, the light fixture is on the ceiling. The ceiling is 12 feet high. Even standing on a chair, I cannot deal with it. So, it requires the use of a ladder. What's the problem, you ask? Well, the problem is that my ladder is kept in my storage room in a different part of our apartment building. And, it is 7 floors away.
Yes, yes, we have elevators, but I hate using our elevators. They are slower than molasses in January. (I haven't heard that one in a long time). And, it necessitates walks down long corridors, which I find tedious and boring.
But, I did it. I traipsed up and got the ladder, schlepped it down to my apartment and scaled its heights and changed the light-bulbs. Then, I schlepped the ladder back up to my storage room. And, that storage room is another story, all unto itself. I'll tell it another time.
The good news is, I replaced the burned out bulbs with "energy saver" bulbs, which I have been using for some time now in various lamps. And, for once, something works the way it's supposed to: These bulbs last FAR longer than regular bulbs; they give off more light; and they use a fraction of the electricity. It's a win-win-win situation.
And, because I still love my new camera and use it every day - and, because changing the light bulbs is the only note-worthy (ahem) thing I did, I took a photo of the light bulbs for your titillation and edification. Enjoy:
