Standing in the middle of one of Xanadu's city streets is a young man with rigid posture, wide eyes, and a camera phone. Despite the movement going on around him he remains in one place and holds up his phone to document his new surroundings in video. It's different here, not nearly as busy as back home and Simon is amazed that no one has yet

"What are you doing?"

"I'm filming things," he replies a bit obviously, lowering his cameraphone.

"What does that mean, filming?"

[theydidnothing]

The question doesn't strike him as odd. "I'm taking moving pictures of things," he replies. Simon's speech pattern is a little jerky, as if unsure if he's saying the right words.

"You can take a look if you want," he holds out the phone and has it play back footage of people walking down the street.

Which effectively gets a O_o face from Magda. "How? Is it magic? Are you a wizard?" She knows about wizards.

[theydidnothing]

"No, it's just technology where I come from. Most people have one." He pockets his phone and looks at her curiously. "Are there wizards here?"

[cold_magdalen]

"Aye, I know two, Sirius and my lord Sir Martel."

[theydidnothing]

"Are they... nice?" He doesn't know of a better way to ask about wizard temperaments.

[cold_magdalen]

"Sirius is the kindest, finest man in the world." Someone has a cruu~uush. "And Lord Martel hath no sweet temper, but he is a good man despite it."

[theydidnothing]

He can tell she has a crush. It brings up memories of his last one that he tries to push to the back of his mind. "Do you know if I could meet them sometime? I think wizards would be interesting."

[cold_magdalen]

"I know not whether they will agree, but I shall ask. But Lord Martel is dangerous, though he is good, I bid you be ware of that."

[theydidnothing]

"You don't have to," Simon replies quickly, ashamed that he had the audacity to ask.

[cold_magdalen]

"Nay, I will!" Magda is not really good at reassuring, but she really is making an effort.

[theydidnothing]

He smiles a little shakily. "That would be nice. Thank you."

"I'm Simon."

[cold_magdalen]

Magdalen curtsies as nicely as she knows how. "I am Magdalen."

[theydidnothing]

He waves. "Can I take your picture?"
