D: But i have an excuse: my computer broke down T_T Anyways, the chapter might be a bit short, so... -gets on hands and knees- PLEASE FORGIVE ME! Previous The two of them always disregarded the headaches, but they kept coming back; they kept getting stronger.
Mostly, it was Kyuhyun who never really payed attention. Always having to run here and there; from his house to his job, and occasionally to buy some things, it was only late at night when he would watch Sungmin groan in pain. And when he would ask what's wrong, it was always the same answer:
"Oh, it's nothing. Just a headache."
So as days passed, Kyuhyun always instructed Sungmin to go to bed, and get some rest. Why were there so many headaches, he didn't know. He figured that Sungmin was catching a fever, or possibly a side effect of his awakening. However, seeing his boyfriend looking so drained as he lightly caressed his cheek, it was painful. As though he was feeling Sungmin's pain. Kyuhyun sat at the edge of his bed, watching his lover falling asleep quietly, and when Sungmin's head lolled to the side to signal he was in deep sleep, he would place a soft kiss against his lips, and slip out of the room.
When Kyuhyun would return from work, and sit with Sungmin on the couch - pointlessly watching T.V. - , Sungmin would whimper with pain at yet another headache attack. Only then would he curl his arms and legs around the elder, and ask if he was having another one. Kyuhyun felt him nod slightly, and he nuzzled the side of the latter's head. Arms draped his shoulders as Sungmin turned around, facing Kyuhyun; eyes half-lidded as he leaned in closer. Kyuhyun closed the space between them, and they kissed. With this kiss, he hoped that the pain would go away; with this kiss, he hoped that the pain will forever leave. No promises were made.
Kyuhyun felt Sungmin go limp in his arms as lips were taken away from his. His eyes fluttered open to see his beloved lying in his embrace, sleeping. He grinned as he stroked Sungmin's hair, comforting the hurting male.
It was all he could do to help Sungmin feel at ease.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"No, Sungmin. You're going to stay exactly where you are, and I mean it." Kyuhyun said to Sungmin, the latter not very pleased.
"Kyu, I'm going to go insane if I have to look at the same wall on a 24/7 basis. Please?~ We'll be extra careful, okay?" The elder pleaded, attempting to put on the best pout ever, and glistening puppy eyes. Sungmin cackled in his mind as he watched Kyuhyun flinch at the sudden attack he was launching.
"U-uh, well...you're sick! You can't go outside, and it's final." Kyuhyun managed to choke out as he felt Sungmin press himself into him, more, more, until they were backed up against the wall.
"Aw, come on~ You take very good care of me, so I'm not going to doubt you. Please? Just this once?" Sungmin lingered around the younger's neck, grinning wickedly as he heard Kyuhyun gulp quite louder than necessary. Kyuhyun released his breath that he was holding, and nodded in defeat. The latter giggled in victory as he placed an ecstatic kiss on Kyuhyun's lips, and skipped towards the door.
Yes, it has been a while since Sungmin has last felt fresh air against his skin, breathing it. The last time was practically when he had awoken, and that was quite a long time ago. Indeed, he had been persuading constantly about going outside together, but Kyuhyun had disagreed with the idea. Always a, "No, you can't," and leading off with a kiss, and the door shutting behind; loneliness shrouding every corner of his mind.
However, things were a little different finally as Sungmin successfully persuaded Kyuhyun to take him outside; just for a short walk. But that was enough as long as he was outside and obviously with his boyfriend. As Sungmin dashed towards the door, he heard Kyuhyun shouting about to not step outside without him unless he wants to be locked in his room forever. Kyuhyun managed to catch up to Sungmin, and made for his hand, deathgripping it.
"Don't you dare go anywhere without me. Who knows what could happen?" He watched Sungmin roll his eyes, but he still entwined his fingers that fit oh-so-perfectly with his. "Sungmin, I could lose you again...so please..."
"Alright, Kyu. I'll be very careful, you'll see!" The elder grinned widely, and yanked Kyuhyun out the door; walking towards...somewhere.
It was an early afternoon, and everything seemed normal. It was completely different than the day that Sungmin had his life taken away. Everything was beaming with a radiance as though greeting Sungmin back into the world that Kyuhyun had tried so hard to lock him away from. Kyuhyun, to be honest, had no idea where the two of them were going. He was a little apprehensive about letting Sungmin cross the street, always pulling him back in case a car was - slowly - coming by. Usually, it led to a snide remark from the elder, and the protests of the other. Eventually, they made it across.
Kyuhyun sighed in relief as they continued to make their way to wherever Sungmin was headed. However, he couldn't help but to notice the familiarity of this path. This familiarity that led him to happiness; to love. And no sooner did the realization kick in as they arrived at the entrance of a park.
It was your average park: trees of various kinds scattered along the premises, benches littering the sides of the pathways, and a barren green wonderland. In the center of it all was a small lake where everyone were currently at; fishing, running around, and just hanging out.
Though, it may seem average to most others, it wasn't to Kyuhyun. It was special.
"You remember right? Where we are?" Sungmin asked, as though reading his mind, and Kyuhyun just replied by nodding, a smile growing on his visage. It was the place of the fated bond between the two; where they had met. For that, he was forever grateful for this park to exist; forever grateful for that one feeling to just go to that park.
They walked over to a nearby bench, making themselves comfortable. Sungmin had snuggled up besides Kyuhyun, arms draping around Sungmin's shoulders, and Kyuhyun rested his head against the other's. Yes, very comfortable.
They didn't need words to be exchanged; it wasn't exactly the reason why Sungmin wanted to go out anyway. To be next to each other, to be outside together, to be able to share this warmth together. Everything works out perfectly. However, a question did happen to nag Kyuhyun from time to time, and he has been dying to ask Sungmin. So, now's a perfect time to ask.
"Sungmin?"
"Hm?"
"What...what was it like..to be, you know, dead?" Kyuhyun hesistantly asked, afraid that this would arise a horrible conversation. However, Sungmin remained calm, almost smiling as he contemplated the question.
"To be honest, I don't remember much when I was dead. I felt really heavy, and everything around me almost felt soft. But...the thing that drove me crazy was that it was quiet. Way too quiet. And everytime I tried to speak...nothing came out. It was maddening. I don't ever remember opening my eyes for some odd reason. They felt almost glued together; no matter how many times I tried to opened them, I just couldn't." Sungmin paused as he felt Kyuhyun nodding against his head, and took a deep breath. "Until I heard your voice Kyu."
"What?" Kyuhyun asked, shocked.
"I heard your voice Kyu, calling out to me. I was so happy when I heard your voice...I almost felt like crying. And suddenly, I was able to open my eyes, and move. The first thing that hit me was it extremely white, it was blinding. But...I also saw this figure, and then I heard you say 'Come back to me, Sungmin'. I kept walking and walking until...I guess I found myself on some hill." Sungmin explained, a sweet smile plastered on his face.
Kyuhyun was utterly shocked, having to hear Sungmin's explanation. Although, the more stunning thing was that his prayer had consisted him of saying, "Come back to me, Sungmin". He was relieved; it meant Sungmin got his prayer, and now, he's alive.
Together, they spent the rest of the afternoon with each other, in each other's arms. They watched people bypass them, they watched the sun go down; a beautiful variation of colors varying from orange to purple. A relaxing happiness bubbled in Kyuhyun's heart, and he couldn't help but to grasp Sungmin's shoulder just a little tighter. He glanced at Kyuhyun questioningly, but then smiled, snuggling back into his warmth. Yes, it was all worth it.
Once the sun had completely disappeared from the horizon, Kyuhyun decided it was right about time to go back home and have some nice dinner. They walked a good distance towards their house, hand in hand, until Kyuhyun felt Sungmin's hand waver again. Oh God, not again, were the first few words that entered Kyuhyun's head. However, there was no car, and no death. The thud signaled that Sungmin had collapsed. He turned around briskly to find his boyfriend lying on the ground, almost screaming in pain.
"Sungmin?" Kyuhyun frantically asked as he crouched down to get a good hold on him. No answer. "Sungmin? Sungmin! What's wrong? Are you okay?" He launched a storm of questions as he tried to get Sungmin to look at him. The latter grasped his head tightly, trying to muffle his shouts of pain.
"Head. Hurts..." Those were the last words he managed to say before he gave up to his conscious, and lied limp in Kyuhyun's arms. Kyuhyun wanted to scream; was Sungmin dead again? He confirmed that there was still a pulse, and that he merely fainted from apparently the sudden attack to his head. This was way out of control, it was getting way out of control, and Kyuhyun had no idea what to do. Does being sick usually do this?
Kyuhyun grunted in frustration, and considered the walk to their house remaining. Not much, which was perfect. Scrambling, he hauled Sungmin onto his back, piggy-back style, and dreadfully walked back to their house in a slow manner.
In a matter of minutes, the two reached back to safety as Kyuhyun kicked the door open and made a beeline towards his bedroom. Oh so gently, he made sure Sungmin was comfortable in bed, just barely touching him. He placed a damp towel onto Sungmin's forehead, gently caressing the latter's neck; so warm. By now, he was breathing a calm pace, and he seemed to be at rest. Kyuhyun continued to watch his beloved like this, to make sure he was safe, to be sure he wouldn't leave him again without letting him now.
He jolted in shock as he heard a noise outside. Kyuhyun cautiously turned around towards the doorway, to consider that the sound had come from the front door. Now he was worried. Was there someone in the house? Was someone trying to rob them, possibly kill them? His heart paced at a very unhealthy beat, until he actually got the wits to get up from where he was seated, and exit the bedroom. Step by step, Kyuhyun tried his very best to be silent. He peered slightly to find nothing at the doorway. At least, no one.
There, rested a single envelope, lying on the doorway mat. Kyuhyun walked over to it, and was shocked to find what was written on it. Eeteuk was printed neatly in the center of the envelope. He picked it up, and began to open it. He was dying to know, dying to know what was happening to Sungmin. Would his answers be answered with the contents of the letter?
Kyuhyun took out the slip of paper that was within the envelope, and read it. It was a simple sentence, yet he felt his adrenaline and curiosity rising.
"We need to talk. If you want to find me, then go to your boyfriend's grave. --Eeteuk"
