I am desperately trying to be a good girl and put together a Conlaw outline, but partially due to my own inattention in the first month or so and partially to my teacher's proclivity for random tangents and lack of a really clear structure... well it's a monster. I basically have outlines of outlines and chapter headings at the begining of every section and seperate case readings... it's going to be a monster and I'm only into the third week. Ha, but how virtuous am I?? I'm amazing! The last couple of weeks I've been eschewing my laptop in favor of handtaken notes and I must say, it's a better strategy for me. I am very visual and use a lot of highly complex layouts and symbols to relate ideas to each other and have an insant outlining system in the side margin. Also of course it ends the temptation to spend class reloading my gmail/facebook and transcribing everything the teacher says word for word without really listening to it or reformulating it. And I have to say when I just don't bring my laptop to school, it definitely makes for a more produtive lunch hour and much more exciting internet check at the end of the day.
My Dad came down for lunch today (on his way to Edmonds). This was a good thing, because it required I clean my hovel. Yesterday I took about four hours of scrubbing, recycling, sweeping, and vaccuuming and returned my place to the pristine and quaint little Egyptian style turn of the century historical condo that it is. It's still not perfectly clean, but I'm impressed with how not-repellant it is at the moment.
