This past weekend, I was introduced to a new liquid crack that is simply amazing: Christine's Butterscotch Rum. This is from the amazing
punkwalrus's amazing wife. SO GOOD! om nom nom good. So good I almost lost a hand trying to get it back from
anushin.
Hi! I'm really glad that you liked it. It's easy to make. The glass flask was purchased from The Container Store. I think it's an 8 ounce flask.
Christine's Butterscotch Rum
7 oz Bacardi Superior Silver Rum
30 Butterscotch Discs * See Note *
1 Large mouth, tightly sealing container
Put the rum and 10 of the discs in the container, seal and shake. Shake every time you think about it. After a few hours, add 10 more, shake and repeat until it's all dissolved. Typically, it'll be finished in about 24 -36 hours. Funnel into the ready flask.
*Note - The type of butterscotch disc you use matters. For example, the batch that you received was made with discs purchased at CVS. They were a relatively clear, deep amber disc. What you saw in the flask was the end product. The second batch that I made was from discs from Giant. They were a bit more opaque. It produced a rum that separated when dissolved. Now, I could have filtered this through coffee filters, like I do the skittles vodka, but I didn't have time and just bottled it the way it was. Before drinking, I just shook it up and it became a creamier version of the original. It was different, but equally as good. I do think that I prefer the clear kind a bit better.
So I know what we'll be doing this week...
