Craft Services Cart

Nov 06, 2010 20:07

So I'm looking to build a road case for catering/craft services.

Scope:
Comfortable working height top
Space for mini-fridge and microwave
Fits in both a van and most elevators
Casters that will roll well on carpet
"Lid" that becomes a table surface
Storage for things
Operates off a 15A circuit
Power available on top

cons, to do

Integrated DC/AC converter for operation off car battery?

Space for mini-fridge and microwave
Why this one?

I'm mostly concerned about being able to run this out of hotel rooms and convention areas.

Because I already have plans for fridge/microwave roadcase, so they go together in my mind.

Consider putting in a DC-AC adapter for people who want to run things at outside Fairs, or just live out of their car during the week and still want to prepare stock. Obviously there will be a limit to what can be run, but you should be able to operate a fair amount, even if it is just a light or two.

Ah. You might want to reconsider that. In my mind, Craft Table = Need for Storage. Storage which is being taken up by a microwave and fridge. Plus, they already make travel coolers that can run on AC/DC.

Except we specifically want a roadcase to carry our micro and fridge to go into hotel rooms and convention centers to use while we're at conventions. We're looking at specific use by ourselves mos likely.

Why does everyone assume I'm building this for other people? No, no, this is for me.

Of, and I said Craft Services not crafting, that would explain some of the disconnect.

Of, and I said Craft Services not crafting,

Oh! Indeed it does!

Well now, that does change things.

Still think AC/DC converter is useful.

Is the fridge full when it is being transported? i.e. do you have to worry about a max tilt angle when moving it around? That would govern whether it needs to be 4 wheeled or can be two weeks (like on a dolly)

Fridge may or may not be full. As I mention over on the Facebook note, I'm thinking this is probably going to be 30"h x 28"d x 60"l, so 4 casters at a minimum.
