Crush of the Week

Jan 21, 2011 05:05

Greetings, Kittens!

This week finds me a bit under the weather, but I couldn't miss Crush of Week after so very long without it. As the avatar might have given awary, I've been watching fanvids and reruns to make myself feel better and in light of last Friday's guest of honor, there was only one option for today's consumption of eye-candy and that was more Supernatural eye-candy in particular. Yes, Kittens, this Friday we're showing love to Supernatural's Dean Winchester, or rather the actor who plays him, Jensen Ackles

For those of you who share my taste in television (among other things), you probably discovered Jensen in the same show that I did, Dark Angel. It starred Jessica Alba as a genetically-enhanced super-soilder (because all the best ones are) who escaped a government facility months before an electromagnetic pulse smacked up the country and knocked us back to base communications; making it all but impossible for her and the 11 others to be tracked down. Ten years later she's searching for the others and finds Alec played by Jensen.

Dark Angel ran 2000-2002 during which Jensen played both Ben who dies in the introductory episode, and then returned as Ben's twin, Alec who remained through the end of the series. From there Jensen could be seen in everything from 12 episodes of Dawson's Creek to 22 episodes of Smallville (for which he originally auditioned to play Clark Kent).

As of late, Jensen co-stars as the irreverant, dedicated, preternatural-hunting badass that is Dean Winchester on the CW's one hour drama, Supernatural. Dean has been to hell and back--literally--and yet Jensen manages to keep him both appealing and endearing. Even at his worst Dean is trying his best and you can't help but feel for him--even when you know he's going to talk to much and get himself in deeper trouble. I could go on, but this is about Jensen; when I get around to posting Character Crushes--which might even get their own day of the week--we can go into crushing on Dean specifically. (It'll be a two-for-one day, as I bear a crush on both the Winchester boys and have the mentality that says I don't have to choose or play favorites. *grin* Maybe even go for a Supernatural day and throw in Castiel for good measure *bigger grin*)

Jensen, like Shemar Moore, took the modeling, soap opera, supporting actor, route to being prominently featured in a drama. Both men have a range that can take them from pretty to ruggedly attractive, and that just hits all my buttons across the board! No wonder both have been featured here AND as mental characters for a few of my stories. Makes it a pleasure to write! *smile*

Enjoy.

Cuz you know I love a man who cleans up well

Let me remind you that every link is unique, even if it's been linked more that once. I used IMBD, Wiki and fansites were applicable. So click away. For a photo cruise of your own try the Jensen Ackles Fan website.

Bonus: If you think he looks familiar and just can't place him, you might be remembering Days of our Lives where he played Eric Brady from 1997-2000.
