Today was a bit more productive than yesterday.
I woke up before everyone and headed out to the local credit union to deposit my paychecks. I also stopped by Autozone and picked up 20w 50 oil and oil moisture removal treatment for the Equinox, oil for my Mustang and all applicable filters for both.
The Mustang seems to be running stronger than ever after the oil change. Whatever vibration I was feeling at low RPM is also gone, so I have a feeling the old oil just wasn't cutting it. After a small cruise back to Autozone to exchange the STP cone filter the book claimed was correct for the K&N rectangular high performance cartridge filter I wanted to get in the first place, the slight hesitation I used to experience at low RPM is also a thing of the past. I never thought this car could run so smooth. A testiment to the fact that Ford engines are overly restricted and with just a few small modifications they really come to life.
With the Equinox virtually smoke free and with thicker oil running through it, all that's left is the waiting game. I'm going to check it once every few days to make sure nothing new develops but so far everything looks good. No loss of water from the radiator, likewise no oil in the radiator. It appears that it has survived this potentially destructive brush with death unscathed. All that's left now is the dryer, but I need a ladder I don't have to accomplish that feat. I'm going to discuss it with Vikki's brother-in-law Chris this weekend since he apparently has a ladder and a truck to deliver it with.
Thursday is Vikki's birthday. I'd like to get her something as a thank you for bringing me in and letting me stay here, but I have a feeling that fixing the Equinox, the lawn mower, potentially the dryer, and with Comcast high speed Internet being installed on Saturday, that I'm pretty good in the way of gifts. Still, a small thank you is always appreciated and I'm definitely thankful for the housing and the opportunity to prove once and for all that I can fix anything.
Otherwise today was pretty quiet. I ended up passing out on the couch watching Rain play an RPG on the Wii for about half an hour, exhausted from my earlier exertions. The girls made dinner which was most appreciated and we spent a quiet evening of Vikki playing LEGO Star Wars.
Now I sleep.
