Chapter 3

When they finally came back to the concert location for the sound check, Bam was standing outside and yelled at them as soon as they were in sight. "Where the hell have you been?? You're half an hour to late!! The others were here right in time. Martin called each of you over a dozen times." Ville smiled. "Bammie...We were shopping, just like we wanted too. I didn't hear my phone.” Bam rolled his eyes. "How could you not hear your phone? Whatever, you better go inside, Martin is freaking out."

They all went inside where Martin nearly ran over them. "You should have been here over an hour ago! We couldn't do the sound check without you!" Ville shrugged his shoulders and said "Calm down. We can do the sound check now."

And then they went right on stage. Martin looked overstrained once more. So the bands finally started their sound check and Bam and Ryan sat down in the back of the club.

"So, spill the beans, Dunn. Why were you so late? Even I was on time and I had no sound check to do..." Ryan grinned. "It was hilarious...Ville & Jonne tried on some girl clothes. Look, I got pictures." He showed them to Bam. Bam got a fit of laughter. “What the fuck...? And you and Migé are the boyfriends or what..?" Ryan laughed. "Yeah, it was so damn funny..."

"Ha-ha, that's what it looks like. But since when are you that close with Jonne? I thought you wouldn't like him?" Bam commented with an evil smile. "Yeah, I have to admit he's really fun. Hanging out with him distracts me from my problems." As soon as he had finished the sentence, he wished he'd never said anything.

Bam raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean from your problems? You got problems, since when?" He sighed and looked into Bam's eyes. "Since my girlfriend broke up with me via phone."
Now Bam looked seriously surprised and shocked. "What?? Why didn't you tell me 'bout that?" Ryan just shrugged his shoulders. He didn't know how to answer.

But he didn't have too, because Ville came over and sat down on Bam's lap. "I don't get Martin's problem. We're already done", he said and lighted a cigarette. Ryan glared at Bam that said "Keep your fucking mouth shut!"
Bam understood and so he answered Ville instead of questioning Ryan. "Well, I guess he feels disrespected. No one ever follows his instructions." Ville laughed. "Yeah, you’re probably right. We have so much time left; we could have a drink or two." Bam looked at Ville. "You're not really supposed to drink."

This was what Ryan bothered about those two. When it came to Ville, Bam was even worried about his health. And this was really not usual for him. Ville murmured something he couldn't understand and Bam laughed. "Let's go back to the hotel."

When they walked out the club, Jonne took Ryan aside. “What are you gonna do this evening while everyone's at the concert?" Ryan gave a shrug. "I don't know." - "Well, it's just- I don't think you should be alone." Ryan was puzzled. Jonne saw the look on his face and quickly continued speaking, "Not that I think you'd hurt yourself or stuff, it's just because..."

Ryan interrupted him. "It's okay, I got you. It's just...Well...I'm surprised, I guess." Now it was Jonne's turn to look puzzled. "Why?" - "I don't know, but...there's usually no one worried about me."
Jonne looked sheepish. "Oh...well...I would be glad to see you at the concert. I know, you don't like the music, but...Maybe you can give us a shot?" He smiled. Ryan smiled back. He was right, better at the concert than alone.

Back in the hotel, they all sat together in one room and waited till it was time to leave. They all were talking. Ryan was playing cards together with Bam, Linde, Migé and Larry. Ville was talking insistently to Jonne, who nodded every now and then.

He didn't understand them, because they were talking Finnish, but after a few minutes, Ville stood up and grabbed his guitar. He sat down again and played some chords. Jonne sang a few notes and nodded again. They obviously had decided to play a little duet.

Ville smiled. He beat the time on his guitar and then they started. At once the entire room was silent. It just sounded so beautiful; Ryan couldn't stop staring at the two. How perfect Jonne's voice matched with his beautiful face... Again he was shocked about his own thoughts.
When they had finished, Jonne gave Ville a high five and the others started applauding. Ville grinned and took a bow.
Suddenly Martin entered the room. He seemed to be in a big hurry. "Let's go everyone, we gotta leave now!"

At the club the musicians went backstage and Ryan and Bam climbed up to some kind of gallery. The club below was already filled with fans. It was a sold out show and now he was even a bit excited.

Bam looked at all the people. "Dude, that's awesome...I still can't believe you got here, too. I thought you didn't like the music??" Ryan grinned and told Bam "You have to give it a shot." He was glad he had followed Jonne's invitation.
Negative were up first and when they entered the stage, the girls in the first two rows started to scream. He spotted some boys too, but near the bar. They were obviously waiting for HIM.

But then Jonne started to sing and caught his full attention. As vulnerable and feminine he always seemed he really rocked the stage.
When the band had finished, they came upstairs to Bam and Ryan. The whole band beamed with joy. Bam hugged them all. "Dude, that was awesome! You did a great job!"

Ryan smiled. "Yeah, that was a great show. I'm glad I came. You really rocked the stage." "What? I hardly recognize you.” Bam jeered. Jonne smiled. “You really liked it? I did my best to impress you." Ryan smiled back. Bam laughed. "He used to say to me: Ah, that's some awful pussyshit, this band is all gay!" Ryan blushed. The whole band laughed.
Larry grinned. "Oh look, HIM's going on stage. I always have to stare at Linde; he's such an amazing guitar player."

Bam immediately turned around and looked at the stage. The excited look on his face reminded Ryan of the girls in the 1st row. The band started to play and he could just wonder about his friend. He was freaking out and could sing along every line.
"Is he always like that?” Ryan yelled over the noise and the music. The others laughed. "What did you expect? Come on, it's his favorite band!” Antti answered.

When the concert was finally over and last encores had been played, Martin ordered them all backstage. "Listen guys, we're gonna leave now to reach the next city right on time. That means no girls for today...So, get on the busses and try to get some sleep."
