(no subject)
wow, feels like so much time has passed since i last wrote on this thing. gonna make this snappy as the beach is a-callin' and breezy's champing at the bit to check her facebook on the 'good computer'.
bangers ended smoothly.. went to the orphanages on sunday. one for babies and one for boys over 5 years old (up to about 13). gave them a whole heap of clothes and toys and australia merch.. they didn't seem over the moon to see us but i took my video camera around and flipped the screen so they could see themselves on it and they all played up for the camera massively. probably the first time they've ever seen themselves on screen. was heaps cute, got some great footage. only stayed at each for about 10 minutes but it was really nice to see that they are actually treated sooo well. they're all heaps happy. half of them are there not because they have lost their parents but because their families are too poor to have them. pretty sad.
we got dropped off to the bus station to catch an 11 hour bus ride to Ko Phang Nag, followed by a 2 hour ferry over to the island. 17 hours in transit later and we arrive to the most beautiful resort... white beach with open bars lining it, all with fairy lights.. night time is magical. we have a beautiful, large, air con'd room and a king size bed. internet is outside in the garden next to the massage beds, and we get free reign of the breakfast menu every morning.. museli, fruit, bacon, eggs, fried toast, banana and coconut milkshakes... the works. its pretty heavenly. the town is called Sunrise Beach, and theres little shops and 7/11's and cute little cafe's that play Friends and Family Guy continously. Bought MILK on DVD also, so don't watch it! We'll have a screening on the projector in Ascot Vale when everyone's there..
Me and Jess hit the beach last night, a bar called CACTUS. they had all these games like fire limbo and fire hopscotch, it was crazy. got a bit drunk off these buckets that you buy which include your choice of spirit and your choice of mixer for like $6. you have heaps of strawers and you just suck suck suck all night. it's so funny, there's heaps of little bucket stalls all along the beach and their all privately owned, so when you walk past them all they call shout at you to come to their stall to buy THEIR bucket. i'm gonna get it on film tonight.. they all shout 'fucking cheap bucket, love you long time!'. so great.
half moon party tonight on another beach which we're pretty excited about. just gotta get a solid day of browning in to prepare. everyone here is pretty much black.. (heaps tanned, not actually black, you know?).
had a bit of trouble booking our flights to Hong Kong yesterday too. what would ordinarily be a 2 hour flight from Vietnam to Hong Kong has now turned into a 9 hour flight, VIA KL! we go alllll the way down and then come allll the way back. we're such loooosers, left it way too late. $300 was the cheapest flight we could get. i'm so in debt but i'm loving K-RUD right now.
