The night had been peaceful so far, other than the standard fare that was the birth right of any metropolis (Hah.) However, if one were wandering through Metropolis Park on this starry evening, they would be witness to an event that was beyond strange.

A flash of blue light spread through the Park, emanating from a central point. The burst of light was obfuscated by the trees, which was likely the reason that Brainy had chosen this location, for their entrance. As the light died down, what appeared to be a glass globe was left in it's place, floating in the air.

Moments passed, and then a door-like protrusion appeared on the globe. Another moment passed, then out from the time bubble stepped Beast Boy. Dressed in his usual Doom Patrol jump suit, the familiar black and purple was most comforting for him. In fact, the only thing that seemed different about his outfit, was a golden ring worn on the third finger of his right hand. The design on the ring being a large L shape, that was the height, and width of the ring. With a star burst pattern where the lines intercepted.

"Feels good to be home." He spoke with a bright voice, drawing in a deep breath of fresh air. Of course he meant the 21st century, since he certainly wasn't in Jump City right now. As those green eyes scanned their surroundings, he could make out the top of the daily planet building. "Why are we in Metropolis?" He asked, turning back towards the globe, as if he were expecting someone else to appear.

Then suddenly, another flash of blue light. Though this one seemed to engulf the city. Beast Boy turned this way, and that, looking all around him as the Dome fell onto the city of Metropolis. "Dude, tell me we did that?" He sounded a little worried. Maybe a side effect of the time bubble? Oh god, did he ever hope so.

Beast Boy probably didn't realize how much research Brainy had done into this specific period of time since he had arrived into the future. Needless to say it was enough to know what the next crucial point of this crisis was going to be, which was why instead of Jump City, they would be arriving in Metropolis to stop the next wave. Hopefully before it got too out of control.

Brainiac 5 emerged from the time bubble and pressed a button upon the control panel on his wrist which transformed the bubble into it's compact state. "Trust me Beast Boy. Your friends, most of them, should be in this vicinity." Hopefully. There was no mention of any of them by name but there was a 75% chance that they would be found here in this city.

Then his attention was directed skyward, towards the dome force field enveloping the height of the city and spreading out towards it's limits. "That is unusual." Also not in the history files.

"However it is not an effect of the Time Bubble technology." He looked up to the center, where the dome erupted. "The situation may be more grave than I had anticipated if they're resorting to experimental technology."

"Sometimes it's a little scary, how much you know Brainy." Not that he hadn't come to appreciate his friends talent for knowledge. Especially during his brief foray into the future. Brainy seemed to be the man with the plan, for lack of a better way of putting it.

"So...that thing isn't our fault then?" Beast Boy pointed up at the now formed dome, as if he thought Brainy might not know what he was talking about. "Experimental tech? Do you know what that is then?" 'cause BB certainly had no idea what was going on.

The Dome had barely fallen, when people started screaming bloody blue murder, the sound of thousands of citizens shouting at the top of their lungs was both impressive, and worrying. It reminded him a lot of their days in Gotham. Certainly a time he didn't want to be reminded of. "It sounds like the people are worried about this too, maybe we should look into it?" He had a knack for stating the obvious, that he did.

"I'm more concerned about this city turning out like Gotham did. Batman was absent, but surely the Justice League would have sent someone to your aide, Superman may have stepped in where he available. Considering how this is now three months later...There is something seriously wrong in this timeline."

And now for their mission. "We'll investigate the force field later, let's go find the Mayor and ensure his (or her) safety."

With that, he took to the air above and started heading for City Hall. It was a defensive measure, considering how easily Joker had taken over before, or then again, maybe not. It had occurred to him after the fact that Joker wasn't really who he claimed to be back in Gotham, especially when they found the robot in the City Hall.

"What happened in Gotham, will not happen here in Metropolis." There was a steel to his voice, that was not normally present in the happy go lucky Beast Boy. What he lacked for in physical growth, he made up for in mental growth. He had learned things, both from their experience in Gotham, and while he had worked with the Legion in the 31st century. Because of that, he was going to be a better, and stronger hero.

"The mayor?" He repeated Brainy's statement, sounding curious. "Why is it always Mayor's with us. I'm scared that we're falling into a creative rut." Either way, since Brainy would surely leave without him, he decided to go with his friend. After all, these were not conditions to go traveling alone.

Releasing his breath with a soft sigh, he focused his thoughts, as he had been taught to do. His body rose into the air, and though it wasn't the first time he had flown under the power of the ring, rather than the wing he still found the process to be incredible. He was so used to natural flying, that he hadn't realized how much fun it would be to do it with some sort of device.

"Who do you think did this?" He couldn't help but ask. Beast Boy seemed to be draw to conjecture, often wanting to know things without any fact or evidence. In other words, he liked to guess. He imagined that at times it quite annoyed his friends, especially someone like Brainy, who seemed to depend on logic to survive, so to speak.

It was satisfying to see how well Beast Boy's recovery has been since the day of their retreat into the future. He has really come along not only as a hero, but gained character, he supposed it didn't hurt that he had a strong support from Chameleon Boy, Saturn Girl and Timberwolf of all people. Brainy smiled back at his friend and gestured forward. "This way."

"It's just a precaution, that and the mayor is likely the one who knows why the shield was activated." And then Beast Boy asked him that. Was it annoying? No. Not really. It was just irrelevant. "Unknown, the history file was surprisingly vague."

"Good point. I hadn't thought of it that way." Beast Boy found himself nodding his head in agreement with the logic. If this were a plan enacted by some sort of hero group, like the Justice League then the local law enforcement, and government agencies would have been informed. If it were a deliberate attack by a super villain...well, wouldn't there be some kind of robot army, or massive monster fighting going on by now?

"Well, that doesn't mean much does it? Your history books didn't have much info on what happened over in Gotham? Not that you told me much. Or...would tell me much now? I mean, even though I've been to the future you guys never let me look at the past records, so you're still not allowed to tell me what goes on in the past? Are you?" This confusing string of logic came from him as he followed in Brainy's path. Where Brainy's flying was straight and narrow, Beast Boy had taken to some trick flying. Rolling in circles as he flew on, and the like. He really was impressed with the control these rings imparted to their wielder.

"We didn't let you look at the past records due to the lack of relevant material and that we have protocol to keep. That and much of the information relating to certain hero groups were lost in the great crisis. You wouldn't be surprised if the Justice League had more exposure than smaller, more obscure groups, even then they'd only be myths and legends like you saw at the Superman Museum." Brainy replied to his young friend. There was nothing he could really do in that regard.

Brainy pointed to the edge of a drive in circle and a parking lot. Metropolis city capital building. There.

Well, there wasn't much ground for him to argue against protocol. Not that he had never tried before. He argued with the Titans whenever he could. If he had his way, he'd have made them all vegetarians, and established a tofu pizzeria right inside the Tower. Robin had always said things like 'breach of security' and 'stop kidding around Beast Boy, it's your week for dishes.' So yeah, long story short he'd learned there are some fights you just can't win.

"Well, I guess it's a good thing you brought me to the 31st century. It would have been a shame, if your world had gone on not knowing the intricate, and personal details of someone as awesome as I am!" He knew of modesty, he just preferred to think of himself in a more positive than normal light.

His eyes followed as Brainy pointed down to the ground. "You know, I never thought of it before now, but why is it always so easy to get to see the Mayor? You think in a world full of super powered villains, they'd have been protection." Beast Boy altered his flight path, leaning down as he directed himself towards entrance of the building. "What do you think, we just go in and ask to see 'em?"

If only Beast Boy had realized how easily that could have been accomplished in the 31st century with food replication technologies.

Brainy flew down and landed on the concrete, walking towards the door of the government building. Unfortunately Beast Boy's explanation did not warrant much of a response from the Coluan, less he divert his attention from the task at hand.

"It may have something to do with your era's political system, as I understand the position of Mayor is fairly low in executive power." He said and entered the door. "And that may be the best option considering what is going on, as we do have legitimate business to discuss."
