[If You're Not Into the Whole Brevity Thing...] Five Things I Did This Weekend

Mar 11, 2013 10:36

1. When I was making breakfast on Sunday morning, I heard a racket in the living room which I was SURE was one of our cats spontaneously exploding. Since all the cats were still intact, it probably would have taken me days to discover where the noise emanated. But Brian figured out that one of the tires on our jogging stroller had exploded. How nice. So we went to the bike shop and got a new innertube, and Brian fixed it.
2. We now have a bookshelf for the living room, a coffee table/ottoman, and an entertainment center. I actually picked out the bookshelf, but Brian gets credit for everything else. Maybe I should have called this entry, "Five Things I Witnessed Brian Do This Weekend."
3. WE FOUND THE CHIPS.

When I saw the first commercial for the new Lay's potato chip flavors I thought, "I'd like to try that Cheesy Garlic Bread flavor. That sounds good!" Then I couldn't find them. And you know how it is when you CAN'T do something--somehow, that greatly amplifies your desire to do that thing. So, I got a little obsessed. Brian and I checked pretty much every supermarket, CVS, Target, and yes even WALMART within a 15 mile radius and we could not find these stupid chips. On Saturday, after the fateful Walmart trip, I gave up. Evidently I have poor reading comprehension skills, because I thought the contest was ending this weekend, but apparently voting is open until May. Anyway, on Sunday whilst making our usual weekly shopping trip to our usual supermarket, the chips magically appeared. We got the Cheesy Garlic Bread and also a bag of the Sriracha for my family. Everyone preferred the Sriracha except me and my six-year-old sister, which sounds about right because I have the taste buds of a six-year-old. The search for Chicken and Waffles continues.
4. Saturday was such a beautiful day, so I took Luke to the playground for approximately 35 seconds. I was going to meet my brother and his family there, but I took forever to park and they were leaving by the time I finally arrived. The section of the playground for small kids was overrun with grown men sitting on plastic dinosaurs while playing with their cell phones and ignoring their children (I'm just assuming they were even accompanied by children), so we didn't stay. Then we went over my brother's house for dinner.
5. Just 6.5 weeks after beginning, I finished Month 1 of Insanity. I wonder if it might be prudent to skip the "Recovery Week" and jump right to Month 2. Maybe I'll see how frightening Month 2 is, and backtrack if necessary.
