Oh God! Do you have any idea how privileged you are? Do you have any idea how much some diseased transvestite 5-year-old kid from Zimbabwe would give to be in your position? Seriously don't take everything for granted! And what's wrong with wanting to learn, explore, and develop our world into something just a little bit better? It seems to me like you are taking a position that striving for excellence through education leads to purely materialistic things, which is far from the truth. Why would God have given you such an ability to think and analyze if he didn't expect you to take full advantage of it? I realize that we should spend time making lasting memories, but I don't think that is all we were put on this planet to do.
One thing I learned recently is that we need to examine more carefully the world around us. Let's say you're a zoologist walking around Earth 20,000,000 years ago. You are walking around the planet and you have not yet seen one shred of evidence that other life forms exist. No dinosaurs, no plants, no microscopic bacteria or anything. Then one day you stumble upon a great ocean, reaching out for what seems like eternity. There, in the water, is a jellyfish. This is the first life form you have ever seen, besides yourself. So you greet the little jellyfish, and soon you guys became good friends. You now try to learn more from this jellyfish using your zoology skillz. You ask him to tell stories about creation, everyday life, religion and so on. According to the jellyfish, life originated millions of years ago with single-celled blobs floating around. Then, according to their scientific research, these blobs started mutation and evolving into other life forms. Then, at the pinnacle of all this evolution, the jellyfish emerged!!!
You see, the jellyfish believed that the climax of the world was the creation of the jellyfish. Do you see what I'm trying to say? Mankind is thinking the exact same thing! We are the pinnacle of creation!
For those of you who have read Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, forgive me...
I don't want to tell you how to apply this into your own life. I want you to take that God-given brain of yours and connect. It's pretty simple. You should understand what I'm saying. Have the best day in your life.
