It was Sean’s birthday today, so his gift was a trip to Baltimore. We left yesterday and spent the night there. When we first got there, we headed straight to Faidley, a ‘restaurant’ famous for their jumbo lump meat crabcakes (saw on the food channel) and Sean always wanted to check it out. The place was located in lexington market (inside was SUPER ghetto and dirty) oh man.. i felt like that place was so hyped up and we definitely looked like we were tourists..expensive too!!! Spent
jumbo lump crabcake with sides of coleslaw and mac (see the crabmeat?) $19 then we also got..
fried seafood combo platter (was alright, would not recommend it) $23
Disappointed, we headed to check into our hotel which we had a little trouble finding. We stayed at Mt. Vernon Hotel (thank you Name Your Own Price). It was a small hotel, but the guy at the front desk was very nice and welcoming. Parked the car in this hidden garage that needed our room key to get into (thought it was a storage garage at first, until it opened). Settled into our rooms and tried to find a bar. We decided to wing it by just walking around the area to see what bars we’ll find. About 5-10 minutes into walking, we find ourselves in the middle of the ghetto! People were standing at the corners, and bus stops. While we were about to cross the street, this guy probably in his late 20’s starts following us across whispering “oh we’re scared, oh no we’re lost.” At that moment, we did get really scared, but tried to remain calm. That guy eventually stopped following us after we crossed the street, but we decided to head back the direction we came in. Finally found a bar called Grand Central, but just when we sat down, Sean looked up the place for specials and found out it was a gay bar (couldn’t tell at first it was still early, so it wasnt poppin yet).. Another failed attempt so we left. Next best thing? Pizza place and wings. Grabbed that to go and found a liquor store and got ourselves 6pack of woodchuck. So the night was very chill with pizza, wings, and tv (food channel) haha.
The next morning we got our free complimentary breakfast and headed to the National Baltimore Aquarium $1 day!! I was expecting it to be crowded, but it was really SUPER crowded. Good thing the line moved quickly.
see picture #1 and picture #2, the line doesn’t even end in pic #2. you get a sense of how far it was by the blue windowed building.
The aquarium was pretty cool. I thought it would be a lot bigger. No shark tunnel that I had hoped for. I certainly would not have paid $30 for admission so I’m glad it was only $1 + $4 for the 4-D immersion theater.
The pictures that I took of the sharks were very dark, so that’s just a couple of pictures that did show up.
We ended the trip with The Cheesecake Factory and then headed home.
Red velvet cheesecake. OMGSOGOOD ♥
