X-Men 173:
I've seen episodes of PASSIONS that are better written than this book. The story doesn't even make much sense anymore. "I wanted to expose Gambit for the loser he is." "I wanted to be close to my daughter." "I'm using a mind-shield so no one can figure out my true intentions.....hahahahaha...cuz I'm EVIL!" (or something like that).
I don't ask for much.
GOOD comic. Not great, but I mean, it's fun. A reveal that isn't a stereotypical, "bahahahaha, you've been working for an evil guy all along," reveal.....a supporting character (Darkhawk) actually experiences character development.....and a story arc wraps up with enough questions answered for the reader to feel satisfied while simultaneously giving us plenty of questions to keep us interested.
If you're a fan of the fun teen adventure book with a bit of an X-feel to it I'd definitely recommend reading RUNAWAYS. I know that a lot of people didn't read the first run of the series because I "think" it was published as a MARVEL AGE book, but if you need to get caught up the first issue of the new series does a pretty good job of filling you in.
