Hanging Out w/Friends

May 25, 2009 11:46

Gawd, the last couple of days have been seriously awesome for me.  Even though I didn't get to go to Fanime this year with my roommates, I had the opportunity to hang out with a couple of my friends who I haven't spent some time with because of work and school, and horrible schedules that never overlapped.  But yeah... the last couple of days have been great.  It helps that they love to stay up all night and they live in Bakersfield, so I can always go to their apartment after work and just relax.

Well, on Friday (my only day off that work week), I got up around 9-10am and started getting ready for our planned get-together.  Things were going great until I got a call for my mother telling me that she needed money.  I was like, "Sure, mom."

Well that sort of changed when she told me the amount of money she needed.  And I mean NEEDED.  Let's just say that I'm out $1K and now I have to re-assess my finances for the next couple of months.  Serious bummer.

So, you can only imagine my state of being when I got off the phone with my mother after getting all the details, and after going to the bank and practically obliterating my funds...  Not in the best mood for anything... but seriously, the outing with my friends had become a serious matter.  I seriously needed to get away from the drama at my place and with my mother.

So, after I took care of my mother and her shit, I picked up my friend Karl and headed out to Bakersfield to pick up my other friend Loy.  Once I had them both in my car, we went around Bakersfield for a while.  Just around 5PM, our stomaches began to talk to us.  So, we decided to go to Tokyo Garden but found out that they wouldn't be open for another 30 minutes.  We contemplated waiting but our stomaches won out.  So we made our way to Miyoshi's on Stockdale and Coffee.  They were still closed but were getting ready to open.  So, we waited and were the first ones in when they opened.  Loy ordered sushi, as did Karl, though he also ordered a seriously large order of Chicken Fried-Rice.  I had some sushi, salmon teriyaki, and salmon tempura.  Heavens above, was it delicious.  Even though it was alot, it was great... I did share with the guys but the majority of it went into my stomache.  What can I say, I love food.

Well, after Miyoshi's, we headed out to Mike's place.  When we got there, they were all playing video games and eatting.  After they finished eating, we all made our way to Cue-Ball to play billiards.  It was great.  We all played in teams of two.  We had our own mini-competition.  That lasted for about an hour and then we got into Air Hockey.  I got to play ever one, so that was about 9 games.  I only last to three of them.  It was great, though my elbow hurts from all of the rapid jerking.  After that, a couple of the guys played darts.  I didn't even try since it would have become a safety issue to the rest of the establishment (lol).

At around 9:30, we all made our way back to Mike's where we began to watch movies.  We watched Quarantine and The Changling.  They were both good in my opinion.  Once the guys left, it was 4 of them that left, we sat down, ate some more and just talked.  We were up until 5am.  At that time, we finally decided to fall asleep.  I got up around noon.  I drove Loy to his place for a change of clothes, changed myself, and then returned to Mike's since Loy said that we wanted to stay at his place.  So once back at Mike's, I quickly said bye to everyone and let them know that I would be returning after work to pick both Loy and Karl up and then head home.

Work was ok.  I was put with completely new patients.  Four of them this time.  I won't talk about them.  After work, I went to Mike's, stayed until 2 AM and then drove Loy home, and took Karl back to his place.  Last night, was once again spent at Mike's watching movies.  We watched Slumdog Millionaire.  I highly recommend that movie.  It's good.  Loy decided to spend the night at my place so I brought him with me.  Now, we just got finished with breakfast, and I will be getting ready for work in a little while.  I'm working overtime this week, again, but that's alright since I was able to choose the patients that I would like to work with.  I don't know if they are going to put me in the same apartment that I've been in for the last two days, or if I will be shuffled back to the previous two apartments which I've been working at for the last three weeks.  It would be nice to know, but regretably, I have no clue where they are going to be assigning me to until they read off the RA assignment list.

friends, trials and tribulations, work
