Romie's whole chest is black, one massive bruise. No wonder he's having trouble moving or laying comfortably. Got him to drink a bit of water and eat another treat, but he's otherwise not interested in food.
When we got back from washing him (he just laid in the tub which is far from normal) the neighbor, the one that helped me get the other dog of off Romie, came over and talked with us. The expected apologies and hope that Romeo would be alright along with anger at their dog, which sounds like he's already fed up with. The actual owners of the dog, his son who's staying with them for awhile, has yet to say anything at all. Which is really insulting.
Chris left work an hour early to come help us take care of Romie. (I think Chris likes him more than he lets on. ;) ) He was also really pissed off and you could hear the seething when he talked about wanting to call and report their dog. The problem there is that these neighbors... are family. Uncle and cousins. And we want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but we've seen how careless they can be with their dogs and we both know that this incident could have been a great deal worse (she's a pit bull mix) and there's no guarantee that it won't happen again.
On top of things, I didn't notice until late last night that as a result of everything I now have nearly a dozen splinters on just one hand. Two of which are causing pain, none of which I can remove without some kind of mini-surgery.
Have I ever mentioned I have a severe problem with needles?
Yeah... this should be fun.
