it's odd not having a cat in the house

My poor Faye kitty has staples in her tummy!

After six years of pushing it to the back burner over other bills, we took Faye in to get fixed this morning.

A couple weeks ago, by pure chance, I happened across the Kentucky Humane Society's S.N.I.P. Clinic page on Facebook to find that they were running a 'Beat the Heat' special where the first 100 female cats to make an appointment would be spayed for just $20. I mentioned it to Chris (through Facebook chat) and he responded a few minutes later to say that she had an appointment for today. As simple as that!

$20 spaying, plus $10 rabies vaccine, extra pain meds because she's never had surgery before, and a donation... we paid a total of $40. SO glad I found the special!

We don't pick her up until tomorrow morning (so hoping weather doesn't interfere with that) but we've already called to check on her and they've said that she's doing good but had to have staples. So we'll be taking her back in a week or so to have them taken out.

The plan tomorrow - once I get over the queasiness of being around an open wound - is to curl up with her and just hang out in front of the TV or with a book.
