Derrick had been outside the Ravenclaw common room for about five minutes already, trying to decide whether or not it would be okay to ask Reina to the End of the Year Ball. Unfortunately, he hadn't even yet mustered up the courage to knock on the portrait hole.
He sighed. Maybe if he just got it over with it would seem like no big deal afterward. He took one final deep breath and then finally took a step forward and knocked.
