No Updates--(def) the state of no updates.
...lol. Yesh, yesh, I know, it's only been a month since my last update, but for me, it's been an infinitesmally long timeee! Whatever. Anyways, for those of you who are wondering why I haven't been updating ( like anyone is? ) it's really because I haven't... been very satisfied with my work. A friend of mine online did tell me that I should be proud of my work (thanks a lot, Michael!) but it's still a long and difficult process, especially when I know I can do better. It's utterly demeaning for me to post something I'm unsatisfied with, so I... won't. For my readers' sakes, I'm not going to post up something half-assed. I don't generally use such vulgar language (...lol) but 'half-assed' is such an accurate description of my work right now. I'm polishing my writing style and working on the flaws and kinks, so hopefully when I get back into the routine of updating, my work will be easier on the eyes and more of an impact on my readers, rather than a "Oh, that's sweet.." I want to leave an impression on people with my stories, because I have read stories where the author's just kept me thinking and thinking on the story and characters and everything. They drew me in that much and really made me love them. I'm not trying to be big-headed; this is really just for my own benefit. Of course, the readers should be taken into consideration, but I really do want to better my writing, to the point that I can just leave such a great impression.
I've really been thinking a lot on the subject of my writing and everything, because I've been trying to find the perfect job or career for me out there. I'm in high-school and everything's just passing by so quickly. I mean, I'm already a quarter done with my sophomore year. Next year I'll be a junior, taking tests that will decide my future college and what could be my future shot at a better life. The year after that, I'll be looking for colleges and applying to them. How can I pick the right one if I don't even know what I want to be in life? And something I'm interested in being is an author. Hey, they've got their lives set out for them pretty much, especially if they're famous authors, like J.K. Rowling and etc. Of course, the dullness of typing everyday or working on stories everyday doesn't really appeal to me; I really want to do something active, but the idea of writing my stories and distributing it out for general reading does sound pretty nice :)
Anyways, I've really been thinking on the subject of these things, and as a result, I've found ways to better my writing. Namely in looking through websites for help on certain writing matters, especially the things I'm weak in or want to improve. Here is a short list of what I've looked into:
--creating a rich plot
--creating more interesting characters
--conflict
--antagonists and their story
--the point of my story and establishing it through my writing
etc.
Seriously, I've been really working on my writing. I haven't gotten a chance to try my hand at using these techniques and lessons, but I definitely plan to. I've come up with an interesting KakaHina story (well, for me) that I want to use my inept plot skills and inability to read too deeply into character thoughts and deeds to write. Of course, I'm going to try to make everything as rich as possible and hopefully incorporate what I've learned over the past few weeks. Wish me luck! for both my readers and my sakes! :)
