My gosh, what an eventful morning. My interview for an internship with MTV Asia was this morning, 11am. The venue was not at Dhoby Ghaut as written on the company profile, but at Lorong Chuan, near Serangoon/Ang Mo Kio. Everything was okay at first: gothere.sg showed that I have two buses I could take to get there, and the journey would only take 30 minutes. However, gothere.sg was extremely deceiving because THERE WAS ACTUALLY NO WAY TO WALK FROM THE BUS STOP IT SHOWED ME, to New Tech Park.
On the map, it showed that I was supposed to walk through this landed residential estate. Except that when I got to where I was supposed to walk through, THERE WAS NO THROUGH-ROAD!
Do you know how frustrating it is, to be looking at the building you're supposed to go to, right in front of you but there's a house right between you and said building? And that the clock was showing 5 minutes to interview time?
Very very frustrating.
So I had to walk around the whole bloody residential estate, walk next to the main road, one whole big round.
By the time I reached the building I was 5 minutes late. But that's not all.
The receptionist at the lobby said I was at the wrong lobby and that I was looking for Lobby H.
I. Was. At. Lobby. A.
So I was all sweaty and my feet were hurting from the stupid torturous heels I subjected myself to. By the time I'd found Lobby H, taken the lift up to the third floor, freshened myself up in the bathroom, and introduced myself to the receptionist, it was nearing 11.15 am.
The interview went okay I guess. Well, at least the first part. The director of the research department was a Mr Louis Nonouchi, and he's currently in Japan right now with MTV Japan. He shuttles between here and there. He had an American accent due to his studies and previous work in the States, and he was a pretty friendly, approachable guy, and the interview was more of like a chat/discussion. He asked me about research work I've done (for which I'm so thankful I have the NSCS experience) and my current research experiences in school. I then asked him what challenges he's facing/faced with regards to research, taking into consideration the small size of the department. Then when Mr Nonouchi had hung up, Jovvin, the HR Manager started asking me some questions.
And somehow I think she sensed that I haven't really decided where my interests lie, like especially since I applied to 2 differing companies. She was trying to get me to give an informal answer too, by this Wednesday.
Good grief, I haven't even heard from Chanel yet.
I just wish Chanel would quickly tell me something, even if it's a rejection. I just want to be able to know what to tell those people at MTV Asia.
God, I lift up this PI thing into your hands. It's out of mine now. Just help me make the right decision, in line with what You have planned for me.
Oh and when the taxi pulled up to my block, I rummaged around my bag and realized that I'd left my wallet at home. I don't think the taxi driver was very pleased. Sigh, what an eventful morning. And now I'm gonna get lunch and I'll probably miss half of Stats.
