two entries in a row, shocking i know BUT.
I JUST GOT A LETTER FROM MONASH - damn should have checked the letterbox earlier - SAYING THAT I'VE BEEN SELECTED FOR A COMMONWEALTH SUPPORTED PLACE (CSP)!!!!!!
for non-aussies: with CSP, the government pays for a large proportion of your uni tuition fees and you pay the balance. it is not very common for postgraduate studies, at least not within my field. i was lucky enough to be able to apply for it, but they made so much fuss about the "limited number of places" and applying for it was pretty annoying (i had to write about three different emails until it was official that i'd applied for a CSP place), i'd give up hope.
this is awesome.
my uni debt will only be about $13,000 instead of a whopping $32,000!!!! this is really, really good news. i'm hoping that my monthly repayments won't be too much on HECS-HELP, i assume it works the same as FEE-HELP? tempted to pay upfront but i need money for holidays and shiny toys i don't need. mmm.
they didn't say anything on the letter about grades, but i am 99% sure i'll need to keep my grades over 75% or something to keep it so it might be difficult, what with working full-time and all. we'll see.
ETA: yeah, monthly repayments will start straightaway, which will suck immensely. ah well. at least i won't be repaying forever.
