[Fandom Basement, Saturday Afternoon]

So it turns out you can fashion a reasonable hide-out in the basement, as long as you are willing to make your own fun. Which is probably the best explanation for the signs up on the walls, saying things like "STAY OUT", "NO PARENTS ALLOWED", and "THERE ARE RATS DOWN HERE EW", with little seahorses doodled all around the letters

"I think we should play Operation again," Jaye says, already opening the box. Because playing a game inolving tweezers and buzzing is a good idea when you're hyper.

"Okay, but I'm still going to kick your ass," Alec says, looking vaguely smug. Possibly more than is warranted given how many M&Ms he's consumed in one sitting.

"Nuh uh. I'm better at getting the wishbone thingie. Years of experience, oh em gee." Apparently hyper makes her talk like Rory. Okay.

"I learn quick," he warns, eyeing the red-nosed board-game-man.

Buffy was trying desperately to keep her mom from seeing the stranger parts of fandom, and had therefor taken Joyce on a tour on her own. "...And this is another part of the basement!"

"This is all very fascinating, Buffy," Joyce said as her daughter dragged her deeper into the basement, "but I was hoping to actually meet some of your teachers-"

"Look! There's Jaye and Alec!" Buffy interrupted quickly. She paused and blinked. "Jaye? Alec? ...What are you doing doing down here?"

Alec waved. "Hi Buffy! We're hiding, so don't tell anyone we're here, okay?"

Rory escaped from Mrs. Kim and Lane for a little while in the afternoon (and yeah, she'd wished she could've nabbed Lane on her own for a few minutes) and snuck back to her room.

A few minutes after that, she made her way down to the basement with an enormous bag of candy and a huge thermos of coffee with a few cups. "I bring provisions for ye who are in hiding," she called.

Jaye totally starts singing part of "Wind Beneath My Wings" when she sees what she brought.

"Alec told me to," Rory says, grinning. "Are you guys playing with the origami stuff?"

"And eating sugar!" Jaye says happily. And she picks up a crane and makes it quack at Rory.

Lane waited for her mother to get involved in what promised to be a long conversation with the ethics teacher, and then walked the other way. Quickly.

She saw a familiar figure head into a door marked BASEMENT and followed Rory, feeling like a spy. "Rory? Is there something cool down here?" she called.

"Lane!" Rory squeaked. "You got away! Come meet some of my friends."

"Yay, friends," Lane said happily. "Mama is talking to one of the teachers. I told her something about the library and kind of walked away really, really fast before she could say anything."

She bounced. "Who's down here?"

"Um, that's Jaye, and that's Alec," Rory said, pointing at each respectively.

And then, in what she felt was a very quiet and sneaky way, she whispered, "See, I told you he's pretty," to Lane

Aaron wandered away from the tour in hopes of finding and embarrassing Jaye. The tour was boring. He needed fun. Fun at Jaye's expense.

He decided to try the basement. It seemed like a Jaye place to be.

"This is Jaye Tyler's brother, Officer Tyler. If anyone is indulging in illegal narcotics or procreation, you're all going to jail. I'm coming in and remember, this is all. Jaye's. fault."

[OOC: Still at work. Am slow.]

"We're not having sex! And I don't think sugar's illegal," Alec said loudly, a half-made origami frog in hand.

Jaye's eyes go really wide, and she hides under a blanket.

"Sure, sugar. That's what they're calling it up in The NF, too," Aaron said. "And who exactly are you? Another hermit?"
