My portfolio presentation went well. I had to explain a few things as I went along, but I forgot the major thing, which is that Speak is in first person, so the reader only knows a student as IT (I won't spoil it in case anyone wants to read it, which I highly recommend) until the very end. I didn't even realize it until my advisor asked me about it during the Q&A. Oh, well, it wasn't anything that could be fixed. So, one thing down. Now I have to concentrate on my linguistics paper and my poli sci paper.

I think I'm just going to give up on my second NaNo. I'm at 17k or so, but I don't have much time at the end of the semester here to put much effort into it. I was planning on working on it today, but a friend showed up, decided he was hungry so we grabbed a bite to eat. And then we somehow got on the topic of "A Clockwork Orange," which I have neither read nor seen, and of which he has both. So I saw the movie and I borrowed the book. Yay!

Speaking of borrowed books, my philosophy professor borrowed my copy of Lamb, another book I highly recommend unless you're the type to get offended easily by gentle mockery of religion. It's basically about Biff and his friendship with Christ and the missing years in the Bible when Christ goes from twelve to thirty. referencedrow and I were discussing the book the other day and piqued his interest and when she asked him how the reading was going before class on Thursday, he likes it so far. Glee!

It's Giftmas season and you know what that means, right? Time to dig out A Very Scary Solstice. It's Christmas carols filked so that they're about the HP Lovecraft mythos. Very fun. And, of course, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, though I have to take a moment to glare jealously at the person on my flist with tickets to their show.

nanowrimo, books, giftmas, school, holidays
