Does anyone remember that episode of the Simpsons where the world was ending, so all the smart people were put on a ship, leaving the Simpson men to wander around until they found another ark but it turned out to be the one with all of humanity's rejects and went straight into the sun? Well, apparently life is imitating art again. Or maybe it's just because the Simpsons has been on the air for so long that everything just imitates the show after a while.
See, I found this little article about a video game designer that's creating some "humanity backup" by putting DNA samples on the ISS or something. Even though you'd expect the ISS to be long gone before humanity is. Anyway, there's a list of "inductees" at the bottom of that link. Nineteen people total, but only three are women. And Tracy Hickman, really? Does the new world really need more Dragonlance? Also, you'll notice the distinct lack of scientists. It's like he went to a party and made a list of everyone that would speak with him.
