I am on my lunch break from work. Deciding to forgo real food, I am indulging in a peach milkshake. As I slurped my first mouthful through the straw I thought about how rarely I drink milkshakes now that I don't live near a Sonic. This is my first in almost a year and one or two a year is about average for me other than when Sonic was close and even then I probably only had about five a year. It isn't something I go out of my way for and rarely am in the mood for it.
Then it occurred to me that is very likely that I will die before I have a hundred more milkshakes. I'll be surprised if I have more than fifty more. The realization doesn't make me want more milkshakes, but it makes me appreciate this one more.
Life on this plane is finite. Thusly its pleasures are finite. Appreciate them while you can.
