I just got off the phone with the ex, Traveling Man, and we polished up a plan that we've not clued the young one in on yet. He's going to California the day before Halloween and will be there for two weeks. He wanted Mini-me to fly out and join him, but with the post9-11 anti-terrorist stuff, it's apparently a huge hassle for a minor to fly
