Tired of Bullshit, disgusted with father

Hi everyone! My name is Wyndee Rebecca Walker and I live in Alexander City, Alabama with my mother and daughter. I am originally from New Orleans--ah just typing the name of the city that care forgot brings back the sweet memories of days gone by--but I was transported to this small town between Birmingham and Montgomery 3 years ago after ( Read more... )

Last time I was hospitalized a staff member asked me "How are you feeling today?" I replied, "I am pissed off to be stuck in this hell hole." She then asked, "Are you having any thoughts of hurting yourself?" I laughed at her and said, "Well, if I was I wouldn't be stupid enough to tell you."

That reply earned me a day sitting by myself at a table and not being allowed to interact with the other patients.

Well in a way you earned the right to be left the F alone. The woman probably felt a measure of sympathy as well as community with you, as from what I can tell the mental health workers are just as miserable oftentimes as the "consumers" they just have the keys. What you could have said to the last comment was: "Just because I'm pissed off doesn't mean I want to hurt myself. My mind doesn't automatically jump to that conclusion" or you could've said "I might hurt on the inside and as a result want to hurt myself on the outside to show others just how much I hate being here, but I won't give you that kind of power over me. Thank you for asking." But of course we never think of the most intelligent responses when we are all mixed up and angry inside. But if you can think of things like that to say you will empower both yourself and the person who expresses a sincere interest in you. Unfortanately they all mean well don't they? LOL--There's an expression: "Sometimes the most tragic results start out with the best laid of ( ... )

I have no regrets about my response to that worker. It was one of the wittier moments in my life. I still chuckle about it. It was just their protocol to ask everyday about having thoughts about suicide. Just one more part of the daily drill ( ... )

Sorry to keep harping on the topic--but (grinning mischeviously) could you somehow make my 300 pound father into a more or less helpless child and give him some discipline. If anyone needs a spanking its that fat mean ass bastard LOL! Oh well...sigh

I suggest you visit the site called mindfreedom.org, live journal's anti psychiatry website, or google anti quakery. Lots of info on psychiatry's long history of abuse and plain old torture. I suppose my comments on my father were out of place and the thought of him suffering that--demoral and a straight jacket-- would only make me sad not happy in a malicious way. As far as my father trying to take custody it is a long story, but suffice it to say he has no respect for my thoughts, opinions, ideas, values much less my feelings. And I believe he is that way with most people. He has his opinions I have mine. He has his way of solving his problems I have mine. But for now I don't want anything to do with him. Nothing. Isn't it interesting how the word demoral also makes you think of not moral? No I think the best way of dealing with my father is to be as successful in my life as I can and know how to be and just fuggit about it. Hope this gives some insight!

Hey I read your comments about spanking. I personally still think its a stupid and harmful thing to do to a child, but it's still legal most places so to each her own. You don't have me convinced but I'll butt--hey watch it, don't hit-- out. Thanks for answering!
