I'm in SoCal and we've had the biggest snowfall in at least a decade and usually the first *big* snow storm doesn't hit til early to mid January.
The snow was so thick we had to use a broom to clean off the cars.
I wish the night pics turned out better, but the falling snow had a cool effect.
If you look carefully you can see our sleeping Ents.
Sadly it's melting already; don't the icicles look a rather menacing?
It's gorgeous, yet a bit treacherous. My car slid straight through an intersection this morning. I was going about 7 miles per hour when I tried to stop but turns out that's still too fast for ice. Luckily it's a low traffic area and there wasn't any cross traffic.
What amazes me is Vegas had a record of 3.5 inches, previously set at 2 inches in December 1967. It doesn't sound like much but I've read Vegas has no plows or industry to deal with snow, not even at the airport.
I found awesome photos of snow falling Vegas. The best are linked to below.
Vegas blanketed! This site has a news vid with great shots of falling snow and a slideshow with a lot of pics that can be expanded to fullscreen. Be warned it takes a long time for fullscreen pics to load and I'm on high speed DSL.
