Hi! I know, its been forever. I have been just so damned busy that it is not possible to maintain a journal but figured I would share in my excitement about some events happening in my life.
I have researched pretty much every online 3D chat program available. I have used Second Life, IMVU, Kaneva, There and the list can go on as there are plenty of them available. However, none seemed to have what I was looking for.
My criteria was:
One, ease of use by the end user.
Two, an integrated development program for 2d texture art and 3d modeling by end users that did not require me to spend a week installing one item (okay, that may be exaggerated but some times it does feel that way).
Three, not being thrown into a world where there are hundreds of other dazed and confused individuals trying to figure out what exactly they are supposed to do next.
Four, a place where grown ups can play in a 3d environment without the fears of having a child in the room or expectations of inappropriate behavior that was not anticipated (in other words not an 'adult' specific program) yet still allowing for grown ups to be grown ups while interacting.
Well after polling a few people I knew, and some I did not, I had a list of criteria of what other users would like. I took this to a great programmer/3D artist/web developer, Danto of Nitrous Butterfly LLC (
http://www.nitrousbutterfly.com), and after some further research on various programs we decided we had a plan. We would make our own 3D chat program but also add in a social networking element that would not necessitate the need for people to be tossed into one big group when they first come in but have the opportunity to get to know each other through their website first. Yes, a website, not just a page but multiple pages they can create and manipulate to their liking.
That was over a year and a half ago. We have come a long way since then but it has been worth the trip. We have a few closed beta users in place, many more scratching at our door to enter and about 4 months of work ahead of us to get the program up and running enough to open the doors to the general public. I am so very excited.
In the mean time, I am designing clothing and a few other items on IMVU and learning how to work out the complications of Second Life for creating clothing there (add box, manipulate box, add texture, find texture does not look right, rinse and repeat until exhausted). I have posted some of my designs in my photo gallery if you care to look. I actually have 3 accounts on IMVU as I could not decide on one design style and they are so different it seemed weird to integrate them into one. My IMVU user names are VampireBoise, Meadowfoam and Wyllo of course lol
Feel free to come check me out there any time and do leave me messages here. I like feedback as it helps me improve my skills.
More posts to follow.
Be well and be true.
