Leonard Snart had died, or at least he thought he had. He remembered the moment he knew he was going to die. He had chosen to throw himself on that proverbial sword for his friends to make sure the Oculus got destroyed. He even remembered the explosion itself, and the pain that felt like he was being split into a million little pieces followed by blissful numbness. Then he woke up naked in a dirty alley, like he had passed out like some common drunk.

It took him an hour to get himself together and figure out where and when he had ended up. It turned out he was currently up in the New Hampshire Mountains on Christmas Eve, 2018. He was pretty sure it was still 2016 when he had died. Hard to tell with time travel, but it definitely seemed he'd missed some time there. Interesting. Now he just needed to find out which Earth he was currently on. Was it his own original flavor Earth or some other one? Barry had once told him about the Earth where he was the mayor of Central City and explained all about the whole multiverse thing. It made him wonder what all the other Leonard Snarts were like on the various Earths.

Snart needed more information before he could decide what to do next. He walked a while, the night was cold but clear, though there were several inches of snow on the ground from an earlier storm. Apparently, it was going to be a white Christmas, he approved. Leonard found a library; closed because of the holiday, but when had he ever let a locked door stop him from getting something he wanted?

The building was dark but decorated for the holidays. He found a light switch and managed to turn on all the Christmas lights, leaving the regular lights off. Very festive. He smiled as he booted up one of the computers. He did a search on himself and turned up nothing. He'd had Barry erase all his records a few years earlier, so either that had stuck and he was on his own Earth or he'd stumbled upon an Earth that didn't have a Leonard Snart. He did a couple more searches, one for Barry Allen and the other for The Flash.

The Flash search had all the usual things he expected. The Flash was still a hero in Central City. Saving the day over and over again. It was endearing.

The search on Barry brought up much more interesting tidbits. First off it seemed that Barry had been arrested a while back and even did a stint in Iron Heights before being exonerated of murder. Leonard shook his head, he hadn't expected anything like that. He also found out that Barry and Iris had recently tied the knot. Good for him. After a bit more digging, Leonard decided that it was extremely likely that he was in fact on his Earth.

His next steps were a bit murkier. Where to go from here? Should he try to meet up with the Legends and see what they were up to? Where they even all still together? Was Mick still with them? It was tempting but the idea didn't quite sit right with him. His sacrifice might look a little bit less heroic if he just showed up alive now. He needed more information. He needed to know where they were all at in their lives.

He knew he should visit his sister, but she'd been without him for some time now, it might be a bit of a shock if he just turned up on her doorstep.

Leonard finished up at the library, shut down the computer and locked the door behind him. He left the Christmas lights on. It was Christmas Eve after all. A half an hour of walking later he found himself at a train station. A few minutes after that he lifted a ticket off an unsuspecting gentleman who was busy yelling at his girlfriend in a very unseemly manner. He'd even made her cry and storm off. Leonard didn't feel the least bit guilty relieving him of his wallet and ticket to Central City. First-class, Merry Christmas to him. A long train ride would give him time to think. He could decide on his next step in a leisurely manner with a beautiful view. Meals were even included in first-class. There was no need to hurry if everyone thought he was dead. Speed was Barry's thing, not his.

He snagged a beer from the snack car and headed to his seat. He raised the bottle and toasted to the future. It was nice to have one again, no matter where it might lead.
