Well we blew it. Through the actions of some of my esteemed colleagues, we managed to lose our right to drink for the next two weeks. There is a chance for redemption if we behave all week and prolly Friday night too, but I have little doubt that somebody will screw up (no offense to any CB'ers reading this, but I personally don't trust out group very much.) Outside of that, things have been going well. School is very very interesting. I am attending classes at SIT (Sprachinstitut Tuebingen) and enjoying it immensely. Our teacher Carla, is Austrian and always has interesting topics for us to discuss. Our class is comprised of 6 CB'ers moi, Rose, Kari, Jenny, Scott, and Kenzie; 3 "hot greek guys", 1 "hairy old greek guy", the 2 greek girls; and the two Colombians. One day, we combined with another class so we also had the french-swiss punk girl, the french girl, the Croatian nun, the Japanese girl, and the Israeli guy. It is really interesting seeing a row of people who all have the yellow Langenscheidts dictionaries except each one says a different language on the cover. (its either the yellow langenscheidts or the green "PONS") The most interesting aspect, however, is hearing their accents in German. Most people would hear just the German and think it was weird, some people might hear the accent but not recognize it, but we can hear the distinct idiosyncrasies of the "mother-tongue" in the students' German. It is quite interesting. Well, I have to go now, we are meeting at 5:30 to prepare a report on the German political system and I need to run a few errands before we meet. Anywho, please e-mail me with questions, concerns, interesting tidbits, jokes, anything. I can't promise I'll be able to get back to you in a timely manner, but I will eventually get back to you. It will be a little easier also when i get to my host family in Bad Kreuznach. Also, we just started up a common CB Photobucket site, so as soon as it is up and running, i will post the address.
Speaking of addresses, here is the address for the youth hostel. Keep in mind I am only here till the 19th and may not be able to leave a forwarding address. Actually, that may not be true, considering I have made friends with both of the desk guys, Alwin and Jakob. They are both doing Zivildienst (civil service) for one year instead of doing the mandatory 1 year Wehrdienst (military service.) But that is a whole 'nother story und Kulturunterricht I don't have time for now.
